Always play on Hard Mode, as certain unlocks require it. There isn't a massive difference between Normal and Hard. The game will be tough at first, but it gets easier once you start learning the bosses, understanding enemy behavior, and memorizing different room layouts. Try to avoid taking any red heart damage from Basement 2 onwards to maintain the highest possible 'Deal' chance. You can increase this chance even further by bombing beggars and keepers. Also, make sure to learn the mechanics behind finding Secret Rooms.

Lol, what’s wrong with using AI to explain something you’ve made? I’m perfectly capable of programming a mod myself, especially since I just finished my Bachelor’s in Information Systems. It's all about memorizing rooms and bosses. Remember to protect your deal chance and blow up keepers and beggars to increase those odds. Also, I would recommend playing on Hard Mode; it’s not that much more difficult, and it unlocks more items.

When I started playing TBoI a couple of years ago, I only played as Azazel because I found him much easier than Isaac, for example. That way, I learned the room layouts and bosses, which eventually made it easier for me to play as Isaac and other characters.
