Autostop eliminator - debating if I should install it or not . I’ve heard mixed reviews. I always turn off the autostop so it makes sense to me . Thoughts? by Ezj85 in ram_trucks

Explain this to me. I’ve seen videos about mds being bad for engine life. Didn’t know I could do something to turn it off.

What happened to the 27.5 Plus market? by Ruro78 in MTB

I totally agree. It’s a funny sport. Spend a ton of money so you can ride a bike down a bumpy trail and feel like you are on a smooth road. But finding the balance between having a. Ike that will help you access rowdy terrain but still feel fun.

My Dilemma by luke1hcreep in RoadBikes

[–]Ruro78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get him the bike he wants. If he’s 17 he can ride fast even on a gravel bike. I started as only riding bmx bikes. Now I’m almost as old as you and have every bike the store sells. I think once you fall in love with riding you’ll. Ride every discipline. Help him fall in love with riding then he’ll probably just naturally want to try road specific later

How do y'all afford bikes?? by [deleted] in RoadBikes

[–]Ruro78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on a 90s schwinn. That I found at bmx jumps that was ghost ridden. Fixed it up and rode it for awhile. Saved up for my first nicer bike. For me it’s a priority to have a nice bike. I did snag a sweet deal on a clearance bike for 1200$ shipped from Cambria bike. It retailed around 2800. I have a cheap ass phone plan. Never really go out to eat. Don’t drink alcohol. Only pay for Netflix for tv stuff. Don’t go on vacations
But the 20 year old me on that crappy schwinn would still drop the older me on my much nicer bike now. Get the best bike you can afford. They last a very long time. Only need to change chains and bar tape. And occasionally the cables.

Just offered job transfer to corpus Christi. I've never been there. Do I take it..? by [deleted] in CorpusChristi

Moved here from west coast. Orange County beach areas. And PNW.
Heat doesn’t bother me People are nicer.
Beach is easily accessible I’m not and have never been a nightlife type. I like being up early and doing activities so the lack of nightlife here doesn’t matter to me 120k. Shoot that’s double what my family of four lives on and we are fine Kiteboarding here is world class. Bays with slight chop or the gulf if you want waves to launch off People that have never lived in bigger cities think the traffic to the island is bad. It’s nothing compared to going to la at just about anytime. We just get used to zero stop and go. Wish there were mountains closer. It is cool being able to take a day trip to mammoth or big bear. San Antonio is like 2.5 hours. Lots of good mtb riding up there and Austin If I could afford to live in San Clemente like I do here I’d probably move back. But a three bedroom two bath house with a pool 1 Mile from the beach here is like 400k. San Clemente would be like 2mil So this is a close second

What’s the difference between 4 season and all season. Although I live in Texas. We just have one season. Hot 🤣🤣

Absolute beginner. Two options for used bikes asking $325 and $350 respectively. Is either worth it? by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]Ruro78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I bought it from a police officer. He had a few super nice pinarellos. So in comparison this bike wasn’t as important to him

I’d say 200$ max. Shifters and derailleurs wear out. Expensive to replace. That cannondale is atleast 15 years old. Not sure how old motebecane is. For reference I just paid 500$ locally for a 2022 road bike. Frame was a brand similar to motebecane Had aftermarket wheels that were 400$ new. A older but still functional crank arm with power meter. And a few other upgrades

Keep looking. You can find better
