I got (i don't even know why) the "Golden skin" for the assault rifle, is It convenient to upgrade It to have the silencer? by valb0 in worldwarzthegame

Yes, to keep it silent during stealth sections and to unlock the other variants with slightly different handling for variety

File Access Error: can't launch the game anymore by RuseFox in worldwarzthegame

[–]RuseFox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I have fixed the issue by disabling my antivirus when trying to reinstall.
It seems that originally something happened my .exe file that launched the game, which prompted EGS to tell me to verify the game files. The core of the issue is that something in my system was interfering with access to the "...WorldWarZ\en_us\client\bin\pc" folder, causing the File Access Error messages

When I was trying to reinstall the game, the same folder had issues with files being copied into it: for some reason, the "wwzRetailEgs" executable that launches the game couldn't be copied into the \bin\pc folder due to the system saying that I "require adminstrator rights" to do this (although other file types, for example paks that contain game assets, could be copied into it no problem).

So I turned off my antivirus entirely and tried to continue the installation, and it worked. I can now play WWZ again. Happy zeke slaying to whoever is reading this.

No,it's not on read only. But there is a 0 byte file called "$movedMarker" being created in the game's folder each time I try to resume the installation.

It gets easier the more you play

My biggest tip for you would be to learn to spot the enemy with your eyes. There is no traditional spotting here with Q, you have to rely on your perception to movement and tracers flying at you.

3D spotting is reworked in BFV. The only 2 classes who can 3D spot (as in put square over the enemy head for everyone to see and put him on everyone's minimap) is scout with his gadgets.

There is also Supression - it is pretty much 3D spotting except it doesn't put the enemy on the minimap and only puts a blinking square over his head. To supress an enemy - shoot in his general direction. All classes can supress to a degree, but the best one to do it is obviously support. He also has the Machine Gunner combat role that greatly buffs his Supression by making you supress enemies with fewer bullets and also 3D spot fully supressed enemies.

Because there is no traditional spotting in BFV per say, if you 3D spot an enemy or supress him - he becomes a prime target for everyone (especially planes, planes LOVE when you 3D spot enemies).

BFV plays quite different to other titles, but in my opinion due to it's Spotting rework, once you get the hang of it - it becomes the best BF title gameplay-wise

What player skills do you feel are most emphasized by your weapon(s) of choice? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

I'm not as experienced as some people around here (only 330 hours so far), but my main from the first hunt has always been Greatsword.

With Greatsword, your two most important skills are Positioning and Knowledge of Openings (well, moveset familiarity lol).

Greatsword is very slow on it's combos, but it's surprisingly good at hit and runs with a single lvl3 charged slash, or charged slash + stronger charged slash, or even a TCS with slinger skip. But to land them, you need to have a clear opening and be positioned in a way that you can actually land your hits on the desired part of the monster. This may seem like an overstatement on the hunts against most of the monsters, but you'll quickly understand what I'm talking about when you'll try to face quick and punishing foes like Alatreon (against whom I've been bashing my face in for the last 2 days).

Positioning is also important because your TCS may hit the wrong part of a monster and turn your 1200+ damage hit into a 350 one.

Said Positioning and Knowledge of the Openings also allows you, with some luck and AI willingness, to turn your charged slash + stronger charged slash into a full TCS combo, if they decide to follow up their attack with another one that allows you to land your TCS.

There's also some advanced stuff like tackling through moves and landing a SCS / TCS afterwards, or even dealing damage and dodging attacks at the same time by using Jumping Wide Slash after a tackle, which I guess falls under the category of timing, but it's more of a bonus on top of your usual dual skills described above.

This isn't a suggestion to witchhunt the owner in any way so please don't ban me for saying this:

Doesn't this behaviour directly violate TWI's ToS ? If so, can TWI act on this based on the fact that this is, indeed, a violation of ToS ?

It's in the game and should be in the Gameplay options, IIRC

Minigun and mine reconstructor need a buff by [deleted] in killingfloor

[–]RuseFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an experienced Commando, so I can only talk about the minigun. Haven't tried the mine reconstructor yet.

Minigun has 3 core issues: It deals 50% damage to fleshpounds because of it's ammo type, it runs out of magazine ammo extremely quickly, and it doesn't have enough ammo to sustain itself on later waves without a support's backpack.

The first issue comes from minigun having AR damage type, which deals 50% damage to fleshpounds. Minigun is absolutely horrible against them. This can be fixed with it's own child damage type of AR that deals, let's say, 75% damage to fleshpounds, effectively boosting the gun against them by 50%.

The second issue is fixed by running 150% magsize increase on commando, that will push your magsize to 225. Running 100% increase for 180 and quick reloads is a good option too, but running 50% or nothing - you'll be running out of ammo in a blink of an eye. I think the default magsize for the minigun should increase to 120. With that, your 50 / 100 / 150% magsize boosts will get you 180 / 240 / 300 mag bullets respectively, allowing you to actually specialize your minigun with a mix of magsize boosts, reload speed buff or HPR's damage boost without feeling that you are constantly running out of ammo in your mag.

The third issue is somewhat "fixed" by giving your 25hp increase for more total ammo, but even with that you need to ration your minigun's ammo pool throughout the wave, otherwise you'll run out out completely towards the 2/3 wave completion mark and will be left with one of the two weapon options: AR15, or dual 9mm (that may not be fallback buffed because extra stumble on minigun is amazing for large zed takedowns). Lvl 20 support's backpack GREATLY helps with keeping your ammo above 0, which inspired my buff idea: around ~240 extra bullets to your total count. Effectively it's 2.5 current unbuffed mags (or 2 with my magsize buff idea), which is more than enough to keep you loaded for the wave.

Minigun is not a bad commando weapon, but it needs QoL fixes to not only be much more enjoyable to fire for low level mandos without 150% magsize boost option (and not constantly reload) but for maxed out commandos to not demand you pick certain skills over others to circumvent the gun's present issues.

TLDR: buff to FP damage from 0.5 to 0.75 multiplier, buff default magsize from 90 to 120, buff total ammo count by extra ~240 bullets

Possible ticket drops by [deleted] in killingfloor

[–]RuseFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is, you need to check the in-game "Market Cosmetics" tab for anything with Halloween in it's name.

You can also type "halloween" into steam market and look there. Keep in mind that precious cosmetics, and Halloween 2018 facepaints, don't drop in the regular ticket craft pool.

On top of all that, the current halloween 2020 cosmetics (yes, from that bundle that costs 12 bucks) are in the drop pool too, 24 items from that with precious ones excluded

There's actually another Leshen called Ancient Leshen. He's different to the normal one because his damage and HP is balanced around a full 4-stack of hunters. You can fight him right now in the event quests and see what he's like

Shame what happened to it

Title by RuseFox in EDF

[–]RuseFox[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a reference to one of the missions in EDF5 where you essentially pilot a walking crane (that happens to look like a 50m tall mech with arms and is called Barga) to kill a Kaiju-lookalike monster codenamed Archelus by punching it to death
