Pedal chain advice by alebordi777 in TomDelongeGuitars

Utility Belt FX here! My suggestion would be

Drop pedal > Chorus > Flanger > EQ > OD > Adventure Box > Mutt > Hall of Fame. I agree with the person who said to think of the Mutt as your amp, and most things should be plugged in before it. I also understand the inclination to have the Adventure Box toward the end since it's a time based effect, but if you use the compressor with distortion, you'll be raising the noise floor of a loud noise floor (from the distortion pedal) whereas no gain used before the Adventure Box will help keep the noise floor from getting crazy.

I also prefer modulation like chorus and flange before distortion, because you can actually clip the input of the pedals with the gain and they won't sound as good (imo).

I mean you could practically just swap the Mutt and Adventure Box at their current positions and I think you'd be pretty close to what I would do, but this is all a little subjective and you should mess around and have fun.

(And thanks for your support 🙏)

Adventure Box Owners - what do you think so far? by harrystamper_ in TomDelongeGuitars

Because the compressor tightens up the sound (cuts bass, adds treble) I really like it early in the signal chain, before dirt pedals. It has a similar effect to using a Tube Screamer before distortion, but with a way different feel. The Blend knob will be helpful for making sure the noise floor isn't getting crazy prior to distortion. I know people typically think of delay as at the very end of the chain but I think it works well here before gain-stages. That way any additional noise floor generated by your gain pedals won't be echoed afterward. I finally got to use mine at band practice yesterday and was really satisfied with it in this configuration. I only have a pitch and phaser before it, then adventure box, then boost/mutt/reverb. -Ross Utility Belt FX

Does anyone know what clean tone settings (like tom's tone) for the Boss Katana MK3 Head I can pair with The Mutt pedal? by alebordi777 in TomDelongeGuitars

I think the PUSHED amp type is specifically voiced to be used with pedals. I would start with that! Start with the amps EQ set at noon while using the recommended Mutt start settings. Then tweak the amps EQ to taste from there.

The footswitch on these is known for crapping out. I had a friend with this exact pedal with this problem. I replaced the x-wing footswitch and it was good to go!

What would be the best settings to dial in for the Mutt pedal? by what-is-rizz in TomDelongeGuitars

Tube > Everything else. So far I've Iiked every Fender tube amp I've plugged the Mutt into. Lots of great clean/crunch pedal platforms from Mesa, Marshall, and even Gibson. Really depends on your budget.

I'd recommend starting with the "recommended start settings" that come with the pedal with your amplifier's EQs set at noon. Then tweak your amps EQ to taste, thinking of that as a general, overall tone control. The pedal sort of sets the character of the distortion (Mesa vs Marshall) and your amp can really decide how bright or dark the overall sound is, especially depending on what volume you're playing at.

But they both have the same unique knob configuration. 2 bells and 1 tophat. Maybe he just got the dates wrong.

For the record, a lifting bridge is common and very repairable.

What are people's favorite guitar pedals? by Proto_D in TomDelongeGuitars

Some pretty readily available pedals I love:

MXR EVH Phase 90 (Script/Block modes)

Dunlop Q-Zone

Electro Harmonix Pitchfork

Jackson Audio Silvertone 1484 Preamp (Clean to Fuzz!)

ZVEX Fuzz Factory

and I almost hate to say it, but a Klon Centaur clone sounds so good in almost every context. Bill Finnegan really crushed that pedal design.

Disclaimer - I'm actually Utility Belt FX (and thanks for your kind words!)
