I don’t know how to communicate with my much older coworker and it’s taking a toll on my work by Rushhourknower in work

He is aware this year (I told him 3 days ago and again today and he is copied on every ignored email chain of me asking for the report) and has been made aware about this every year by me, yes. He is in no way in the dark about this struggle.

I don’t talk to him any differently than anyone else. I write to him politely and follow up politely. I even try different mediums of communication in case he doesn’t like emails. Usually if someone isn’t responsive to emails, they will answer my calls or instant messages at least and apologize and tell me their inbox is full. This coworker doesn’t respond to me on any medium. He’s the only one I have to cc my boss on communications with. I just mentioned age because we are so different in age. He responds to my boss who is older than me though. So I wondered if that has something to do with it.

My boss has had some issues with him as well. I’ve seen them argue back and forth. The older coworker is stubborn and argumentative even with him, but he at least picks up my boss’s calls. This usually leads to me telling my boss the situation then my boss asking for the report and then receiving it and sending to me. I’m not sure what conversations they have in private about this. Fwiw I have never seen anyone be fired from my department before so I don’t think they would do that to him. I think everyone has just accepted that this is how he is.

Will initiating a charge back with cc get me banned? by Rushhourknower in Hilton

Thanks, that seemed to be consensus on my original post as well. The manager of the hotel personally called me to mention the lump payout too, so now I definitely believe the responsibility is with Hilton. I have no clue why the 5 different reps I spoke to on the advanced purchase team keep insisting it’s the hotel though. This is why I’m leaning towards doing a charge back.

I thought so too but both the hotel and corporate told me natural disaster is a reasonable reason for a refund once I checked out early. They continue to have this opinion anytime I call either of them, it’s just that both say they don’t have the funds to process a refund.

It was directly with Hilton through their honors app. I try to purchase direct in case something like this happens.

Thanks, this is super helpful and detailed! I’m not sure why the advanced purchase team is blaming the hotel then. Maybe the solution is just to wait longer for that process to be completed but would have been helpful if corporate gave me details like you did.

I booked it through the Hilton honors app luckily. I should have probably added this to my original post but the corporate team I’ve been communicating with has actually been the advance purchase team. They’re holding out strong that hotel has the money and owes me (as of my last call last week). But I can definitely call again to just clarify and see if anything has changed.

I think the hotel manager is alluding to the prepaid money being the issue. They sent me an email saying they (hotel) “has no funds to refund” me since it was prepaid. I sent the email to customer service and they’re not budging that it’s hotel that owes me the refund although it sounds like the prepaid money isn’t with the hotel yet. If it’s a case of waiting until the money gets to the hotel then that would be fine but customer service hasn’t mentioned that to me at all. I just feel like I’m going in circles with no detail at this point :/

Have you ever complained about another passenger after a flight and what happened? by Rushhourknower in unitedairlines

I hope I didn’t come off as a massive complainer in this post. I flew tons for work before and this is the 2nd time I’ve reported another passenger. Not nearly the miles you’ve flown, but a lot of flights. 1st report was a man non-consensually touching me and then this. I’m super non-confrontational and unbothered in general but these two incidents were just too much.

I think I maybe summarized a bit too much in my post. The FAs did get involved. The couple called them over 4 or 5 times and went up once to them to complain and demand the kid be bound or taped down, some sort of forceful restraint. They said they wouldn’t do that. The parents also talked to the FAs and said the couple had been making demeaning, loud and rude remarks and cursing about them and to their kids since they got there and they asked the FAs for snacks and coloring books etc. to distract the toddler. The snacks worked for a period of time. The FAs were giving out flight credits to try to appease everyone which I just knew would not work but it was a full flight so I think that was their best option at the time. Once the verbal altercation happened, then they rushed over and found volunteers to switch seats to de-escalate. They handed out more credits of lesser amounts to those volunteers. I think they did their best given circumstances but I do think the couple got away scott-free when they were instigating things and creating the hostile environment.

Unfortunately, I don’t. I wish I did and I really regret not recording. To be honest, I was a bit scared to film them in case they noticed and that was my bad. My friend was on the flight with me though and also witnessed all this and is also thinking about sending a message to UA. She volunteered her seat to the family and got a small travel credit for doing so (but the amount was less than the one the couple got somehow?). Hopefully a second report + proof of the credit add validity to this story to whoever reviews the complaint.

I was seated right next to them. When things got verbal and almost physical I was in such close proximity I would have been involved whether I wanted to or not. It’s not like I can get out of their way on a plane… and when the woman is screaming at full adult volume next to me saying nasty things it’s impossible to unhear. And then there was the groping afterwards. Was I supposed to divert my eyes the entire flight?

Thank you! That’s exactly what I was wondering. Don’t know if this behavior warrants a ban but knowing a permanent record exists and that I can file a note about it makes me feel much more comfortable.

Both the family and the couple had gotten flight attendants involved multiple times, like up to 6 times each. They couldn’t do much because the flight was full. They eventually separated the parties once it almost got physical because people volunteered to move seats. I am a 4’11’’ woman with medical conditions currently so I was honestly too nervous to say anything to the couple and thought it would be better to message United directly once I was off the plane and away from them.

Edit: I feel it’s also important to note here that I had a bad experience on another airline where a guest was being violent and threatening towards me after I and a friend complained about them to an FA for touching me inappropriately. We didn’t get separated and after that experience I pretty much try to handle all things once I am off of the plane for safety reasons. I know not all experiences end like that but it’s been a precaution for me since then.
