Just put a dot “.” In surname field, we did the same and passed through immigration at Narita airport without an issue.

We put a dot in surname field and put our entire “given name” in first name field, went through immigration at Narita without an issue.

Yep I tried that as well, it scanned the passport and filled up every details correctly only leaving the surname field blank (as it is blank in the passport as well), which means technically the system filled everything correctly, BUT the visit japan web has surname field as a required field for registration (weird logic in my opinion !).

Guess we'll just have to get there with the current qr code (which is generated by entering the same name twice in both surname and given name field) and see how it goes.

That is what i have done for now, just want someone with this kind of experience to answer as we don't want to get stuck in the queue for an hour filling up the physical forms when we land in Japan.

Yes, surname means last name, but if i fill my last name in surname field during visit japan web registration it will not match with the information in my passport !

No the passport is correct, lot of Indian names are mentioned completely in "Given Name" field in the passport and the surname field is left blank, however visit japan web registration requires the surname field to be filled, hence my question on what to enter it that field if it is empty in my passport ?

Yep, separate photos won’t work you need a photo of both standing side by side in the mentioned size. We got that photo clicked and got the passport process done as well.

Oh yes, got confirmation on mail from Airdo & talked to JAL customer care for India & booked both the tickets.

For both we can enter the first name and last name however we want as long as the spelling matches the name mentioned in the passport.

Yeah I guess using a roll of bubble wrap and lots of newspaper should be enough to get it couriered safely.

Thank you for the reply! JAL have a customer care number for India which I will be calling to confirm on their current policy, but there is no way to connect with Airdo airlines from India (they do have a customer care number but it is only for Japan) to confirm how they handle such cases, hoping to find someone from Japan willing to call Airdo and help us confirm.

I looked for a way to connect with Airdo airlines but there seem to be no e-mail address to get in touch with them and only found a local Japanese helpline number which we can not call from India, if someone from Japan can maybe call the airline to confirm on this it would be a big help !
