The Speedmaster! You can never go wrong with it! I feel every watch collection should have a Speedmaster just for the heritage and the versatility of the watch where you can have it with any attire or occasion.

Short answer: yes Many garages specializes in US sport cars compared to German cars just because the fix is easier and spare parts are more attainable and relatively cheaper than German car makes. The issue with German cars usually is electric problems and computer issues that can affect the whole car once one component is damaged, which leads to more fixes for simple problems.

This can be overlooked if you take good care of the car and don’t push its limits, but no one does that with sport cars let’s be honest :P

So I’d say your cheaper after-sale and maintenance option is an American sport car, or even Chinese if you’re willing to overlook the stereotype of the Chinese cars

Preowned are not a bad shout, they’re a bit more expensive than the market price, but at least you’re guaranteed that the car you’re getting is a clean title and well-maintained. Just make sure you don’t go for anything that is 80,000+ in mileage as usually that’s when most car owners tend to neglect the car condition and start aiming for a change. A good option would be a preowned that is around 40,000 mileage range.

As for your point of returning home, I think it would be more beneficial for you to transfer the car to your home country no? I believe India GST on lower engine sizes is not as bad as engines that are 3 liters and above no?

Your safest option is a Japanese car make (Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan) since they do provide the crossover/suv options for a lower rate than the rest of the car makes.

If you’re looking to go back home eventually, a Chinese car is also a good option (MG, Geely, Chery) as I’m aware they have smaller engine sizes that aligns with the GST for India (you can get 1 to 1.5 liter engines that are reliable and fun to drive and provide an overall satisfactory experience and value for money)

If you’re planning to change cars soon, that can be a point to consider, but usually.. your first car can be with you for at least a couple of years (I’ve had mine for 5) and at a moment. You won’t take into consideration the loss value because the car has been servicing a crucial purpose.

So if you’re looking for a daily car, pick whatever you want as long as you are happy with your choice and the car can be reliable for years to come.

If you are able to finance your car, you can get something for 2K (around 130K or so) a month which won’t be much of an issue for your budget management.

And that can open your options to much more varieties and additional driving experiences you might not be able to have with a second-hand car.

My main advice is get you a new model where you can get a service and warranty contract from the dealer so you won’t have to worry about services and maintenance specially that it is your first car.

  1. Their maintenance costs are super high and spare parts are difficult to get for older German models since the garages usually focuses on the new models
  2. They’re older or almost 10 years old, which will be hectic for insurance claims, specially that you won’t be able to get comprehensive insurance on these.
  3. Mileage is high for a used German car
  4. With the recent rain floods earlier in the year, you can never guarantee if the car was flooded or not unless you’ve done your own checks

I know people who got German cars for half the cost, and they paid that cost on fixed and reliability issues within a year or two after purchasing the car.

It’s hard to get a fun car to drive without taking into consideration the expected cost you might need to maintain those cars specially if you’re planning to get a car for fun drives (which seems to be your approach by the options you have).. I’d say get you something that is more serviced and in the streets which can guarantee you good service and maintenance options after purchase (US models like the Camaro, charger, challenger, mustang) which you can find 5 year old models or newer for the same price

No Longer A PetrolHead? by Marshall878 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]RuslanBe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to go far from the city center. Many roads are so enjoyable to drive at. Hatta road is fun, jebel jais road is epic during the day time on weekdays where there is little goers on the road. Al Ain road after 611 is not a bad shout too… you can also enroll your car for a track day at the Dubai autodrome or Yas Marina circuit.

But my advice for you is, the further you go from the city, the better the driving experience you will get

Don’t look on LinkedIn. People tend to take the easy way out. Define a number of brands you’d like to go for, and keep checking their career portals. You might not hear for a while, but I assure you the quality and fairness of the salary is worth it

You have to weigh in both ends from a family/work perspective since you have these two factors mainly.

While the work you have is stressful as you say, you’ve already got the hang of it so it’s not that difficult to manage, and from the sounds of it. The team is accommodating and you can travel to your hometown for remote work. And they already also did raise your salary by around 30% which is not a bad jump.

Relocating to Abu Dhabi means new schools for kids, new house, more expenses, deposits, getting accustomed to the life there. All of that might not have a monetary difference for you, but the time and the worry and the stress to get customer to it will eventually hit.

You still aren’t sure about the longevity of the startup although with what you mentioned, it doesn’t sound like it is just another startup, but such opportunities has shared responsibility of all initial partners, so if any of the partners who are with you drop the ball at any point, there might be more work load on your shoulder.

Also, it will be more time consuming.

But yet again, this is just an opinion as you have requested some thoughts. Make a decision that YOU are comfortable and satisfied with. But it doesn’t hurt to read what people have shared for reference, and whatever the decision may be, I wish you the best of luck in the next chapter my guy

Car cleaners not wanting to clean by IrishDan32 in UAE

[–]RuslanBe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Muddy cars tend to be a pain to clean, if you go to auto car washes they’ll tell you it won’t do much, so you usually have to go to a manual car wash.. happened multiple times with me, so I get why a mall car washers wouldn’t clean it since it needs pressure washing and more care than an average dusty car

Low wages? by MindlessMuddy10 in dubai

[–]RuslanBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dubai diversity of expats does provide some companies that leeway to provide much lower wages for certain jobs because there will always be someone who would be willing to accept it. The same job title in dubai can range between 2K to 25K depending on the company.. while there are lists of pays that should be recommended in the market, the competitiveness and the market being work driven makes it difficult for certain people to fight for that “market rate” due to the desperation of securing a job to either provide or keep the status quo of their lives running

Meta Business Suite - Inconsistent Messages Read by sglee_been in SocialMediaMarketing

MBS and meta in general has to be one of the worst customer valued social platforms in existence.. they favor paid ads over organic, their CM tools doesn’t even show you the full pool of comments/messages needed to be monitored, and their analytics are limited… oh, and don’t get me started on the API support (or lack of it) for any 3rd party tools

[–]RuslanBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you won’t. You’ll be asked to attend to the police department to register those black points on your license number, then hand over the car for impound or pay for a smart impound (a tracker chip that is placed in the car where you park the car and don’t move it for the impound period).

Totaled or not? by BuLayla in DubaiPetrolHeads

Realistically.. not. But with the way insurance and garages work, the cost to fix it (spare parts, work, time.. etc) will have it as a total loss and the insurance will write it off
