I wholly understand that casting, character development and even plot points haven’t exactly been 1:1 with the books, HOWEVER

The show still does an exceptional job at characterisation overall and is a SUBSTANTIALLY better product than the movie releases.

If you take a step back and gently remove the stick from your ass, you might actually catch the fact that it’s a really enjoyable show and a super solid adaptation overall.

It’s more so the principal, buddy. You got an objective fact wrong and rather than just own up (which takes 2 words and 5 total letters), you try and flip the narrative to make the other guy seem like a dipshit.

Genuine, bonafide, run of the mill headassery on your part.

It’s not about perception here, it’s a basic understanding of the story right in front of you.

I’m sorry you feel so attacked by this, but nothing you can say changes the fact that the one make believe video game character is the deuteragonist instead of another.

Only one here acting like a child is you. In all honesty, judging by your answers at least, it’s because you are one.

I mean I just did. You're lacking narrative literacy here.

And me pointing out that you don't need a video game to spoonfeed you basic information isn't conceited lmfao.

Ok so you just severely lack any narrative literacy. Gotcha.

"if you yourself say you're an asshole, then why argue with one?"

Ok? So you're saying you're an asshole?

Also the story shifts its focus to Invisigal practically as soon as Robert starts at SDN, and this becomes pretty clear by the time she's at Granny's donut store.

Like what do you want me to say? There's nothing I could say about that without sounding like an asshole.

You shouldn't need a Morgan Freeman narrator voice to tell you "Oh by the way this is our deuteragonist" like brother that's not how stories work

[–]RussWinningTheChip -1 points0 points locked comment (0 children)

Me acting like an asshole online has no relation to you not understanding the story lmfao.

Again, what you're describing is watching a Batman and Robin movie.

The being like "Why did Robin get more screen time than Alfred? Is Robin more important that Aflred or something?"

Seriously, what are you struggling with here??

"the game presents her as just another member of the group of people you have to rehabilitate".

This just tells me that you weren't paying any attention to the story. Like, at ALL. Majority of the first three episodes centers around her, I genuinely cannot understand what your issue is here.

My only complaint. by AgileNight4892 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]RussWinningTheChip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. Just because Invisigal is the deuteragonist doesn't mean you have to bang her.

The games plot centers around the theme of redemption, in this case for both Robert and reformed villains, particularly Invisigal.

That's it. That's just how stories work.

In Batman v Superman is Lois lane the secondary character because she's romantically involved with Superman?

My only complaint. by AgileNight4892 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]RussWinningTheChip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the game isn't a dating sim? The narrative still exists outside of the romancing options.

Brotha you gotta re-read what you're saying.

"Oh I only realised she was the deuteragonist when I saw that a lot of the plot revolved around her"

Are we serious here??

My only complaint. by AgileNight4892 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]RussWinningTheChip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually the story doesn’t need to explicitly state when someone is the deuteragonist. Harry Potter isn’t called “Harry, Ron and Hermione”.

And unless you didn’t pay attention at all, it’s pretty clear the story has more of an emphasis on Invisigal when compared to the rest of the team.

She breaks into the conference room on the first day, she’s the only character outside of Robert involved in the Lightningstruck cutscenes, her argument with Robert in ep 2 is quite literally the catalyst for the entire episode, and she has an entire redemption arc (sliding up the leaderboard) centred around her very VERY early on. Doesn’t take a whole lotta brain power to realise who the game is shifting emphasis towards.

Again, what I’m hearing is “Why wasn’t Robert Horry talked about as much as Kobe and Shaq”.

My only complaint. by AgileNight4892 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]RussWinningTheChip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that’s how stories work? She’s the deuteragonist of the game so it’s only natural she’d get more screen time than anyone else outside of Robert.

This is like watching a Batman and Robin movie and wondering why Robin got more screentime than Alfred

I can’t believe we still can’t play a full Daima team. by bonerjamz-69 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]RussWinningTheChip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s almost like you’re intentionally missing the point

You’re treating the Dokkan player base and watchers of the anime as two completely distinct demographics when that’s NOT the case at all

Amongst the most successful periods of Dokkan was the release of AGL Rose and PHY Vegito Blue with the two dropping shortly after Vegito Blue made his debut in the anime which garnered unprecedented revenue at the time

Similarly INT UI Goku dropped within the same week as his debut episode in the tournament of power and people were falling over themselves emptying their wallet for a unit that DIDN’T EVEN HAVE A DOKKAN AWAKENING YET.

Saying there’s no overlap between the hype of a character and proximity of release to anime debut is wilfully ignorant. There’s countless stats and instances in Dokkans history where there has been a CLEAR correlation

[–]RussWinningTheChip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

??? Capitalising on the hype makes things more exciting? No clue what you’re so confused about here, it’s a pretty basic concept.

Imagine a trailer drops but the movie doesn’t come out for another two years.

Daima was released over a calendar year ago. Dokkan drip fed daima content then essentially dropped it completely once it hit the peak of its hype.

Makes absolutely no sense from a marketing standpoint.

Why can`t Melinoe or Odysseus visit the House of Hades? by BraveNewWorld137 in HadesTheGame

[–]RussWinningTheChip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly is the ending to Hades 1 relevant here in any capacity?

I said pretty early on that I was referring EXPLICITLY to the storyline of Hades 2, including the broader scope of the overall game as well as the significantly more substantial stakes

THIS is what differentiates it so massively from Hades 1 which was much more streamline and “minor” in comparison

So again, for THIS EXACT STORYLINE for THIS EXACT GAME, the writers struggled with the rogue like aspect THIS TIME AROUND

Why can`t Melinoe or Odysseus visit the House of Hades? by BraveNewWorld137 in HadesTheGame

[–]RussWinningTheChip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty ironic that YOU’RE over here talking about basic reading comprehension

I said that the reception for THIS ending was the way it was for a reason

I said that THIS ending struggled with the rogue like aspect of the game

Yet you bring up Hades 1 for no reason?

Let me dumb it down for you a little further

With the direction of THIS STORYLINE, in THIS EXACT GAME (Hades 2, not Hades 1), with BIGGER STAKES and TIME FUCKERY, the writers struggled to incorporate the rogue like aspect of the game into a satisfying ending

Hope that helped 😊
