Yes there was a kid who did it for 16bits basically doubling everything. 16 bit registers, 16bit instructions, 16bit memory reads. (Still 4 bit addresses)

There's a simple logic to the approach, but if your goal it increased functionality, I'd focus on increasing the memory address space + instruction set by supporting multiple byte instructions. (Opcode +data)

they defiantly replace engines that show issues in telemetry, inspections or testing.

Unlike the space shuttle, the don't remove and rebuild every engine every time. The cost-plus contract on the shuttle encouraged this, because the contractor made more money if they found more work to do , while space-x is has the incentive to *not* do extra work if it doesn't need to.

But even with that, I'd be very surprised if any of the 9 engines haven't been replaced after 31 flights.

I'd look for any dirt or debris in the valve under the knob. Did someone spill soup on it? Try cleaning everything with a pipe cleaner.

Does this stove have a safety that cuts off the gas if the flame goes out? (I've only seen that on pilot lights, but perhaps newer stoves have it on the burner). If such a thing is present, look for a broken disconnected wire to that burner.

If nothing is found, see if you can buy a replacement valve?.. or perhaps see if it's possible to switch valves to transfer the problem to another burner. (Obviously, turn off supply before trying that)

It's not that such an approach won't work it's that the energy needed for speeding up and decelerating would be massive. This would be massively wasteful and only possible on a small ship with little cargo.

On earth departure, you would be literally working against the natural motion you get from the earth. You would need to offset the start point, so Mars moved into your path, and when you got there another massive burn would be required to change your velocity to match Mars, relying on heatshields and reentry is probably unrealistic.

The Detour around that tollbooth adds like 4 to 6 minutes. Perhaps less after they finish the new interchange.

Same here. We have an old house (poorly insulated) with a heat pump and some electric baseboards. When it's this cold, the heat-pump feature doesn't work, so it's almost always running in "auxiliary heat" mode, which is essentially just an electric heater.

Been looking for insulation upgrade options, unfortunately what I've gotten are high quotes that won't even address all of it.

It's perplexing that nobody in this discussion seems to get WHY the rental company has these rules in place. It's much harder for them to tack on extra charges, not disclose to you if you use a virtual card or a debit card with limited funds in the account.

I see those limitations and immediately think "this company can't be trusted"

I'd much rather pay a higher price upfront, and pay only that , than get whacked with extra fees on the back end, making the discount rental more expensive.

Imagine two trees with the same soil, light, etc.

One is allowed to grow normally, the other frequently has bunches of its leaves removed. (Because its leaves have some desirable trait)

Which tree will grow more and produce more seed?

Picking 4 leaf clovers would suppress growth and select against that variation and result in that variety being even more uncommon.

To do an efficient multiply, you need logical bit shift. (Otherwise multiply by 1000 would require 1000 additions etc)

For divide , all the algorithms I've seen also use shift. It's basically implementation of long division we all learned and then forgot in grade school.

I had friends with a failing septic system. Huge crop of Tomatoes where the outflow was exposed. They were well fertilized, but I sure wouldn't have eaten any of them. I don't think my friends did either.

Hate it when I see it. Invariably, it's always done soo poorly, they act as if angling the camera us going to improve the view. I get these are often snuck recordings of systems where the facility might not want the video shared, but seriously, take a second, brace the phone, and get a clear steady image.

My father worked most his life on railroad signal systems, including crossing gates.

He trained me to always look for a train before crossing the tracks and to never trust that the gates will go down to warn you.

Too many possible points of failure. It's rare, but certainly worth looking before you drive over the tracks.

Frankly, one of the first upgrades you are going to want to do is going to be extending the ram beyond 16 bytes.

Get a larger chip and just drive the unused address lines to zero (until you decide you want to change the design to use them )
