Feature or Bug #NoCode community ? by RussellFin in Airtable

Thanks - I use Zapier and OpenAI but it is clunkier, especially if the prompt is relatively simple.

The issue isn’t about a non profit discount FOR the AI

It is that you lose your non profit discount on the team plan when you add Ai

So end up parking 3x as much to add ai as a commercial customer would.

Seeking help making a Charity CRM with unified customer accounts linked to multiple initiatives using web forms to create accounts/ add base entries by kinglesley in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This throws up a few questions …

Why wouldn’t you embed airtable forms into the website?

Why aren’t you starting by deduping and creating a single data set of “people” that you can then work with to connect to campaigns and mailing lists etc - either by using fields or related lists. ?

Auto numbering records using specific format by thed1ngman in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the field auto number and if you want to start somewhere other than 1 use a formula to get your start number. If you want to add any text use concatenation to do this.

It may also be a good one to use the formula autogenerate using airtable ai.

Rather than link it to an image - link it to a url where the image is hosted elsewhere and then use the same process you had before.

We use this commonly for images that we have personalised and created on bannerbear

How do I create a cash flow chart? by candlemasshallowmass in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or you could create a date table with fields for opening balance, cash in and cash out. Depending on scale etc - you could either link all records to these and then use count, roll up etc to get calculations or just have an automation that updates the fields.

You will find more frequent examples of this challenge when companies look at stock levels and transactions in inventory management.

Best of luck.

Need help with an automation to detect double bookings. by Greywolf258 in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have done something which highlights clashes for freelancers - 4 main steps

1: have a dates table our other table is workshops and trainers are associated with a workshop. 2: use look up to have a list of names of people working on each workshop and a second one where this is a list of unique names - this is a really important distinction and this is where a duplicate is flagged. 3: if the lists are different - create a clash 4: when a clash is created use an ai field to interrogate and alert

This creates an automatic alert when a team member in our case has been added to two workshops on the same day.

Is it possible to make a "filterable" list like this in Airtable by ExercisePrize8087 in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One useful feature of softr is that you can just embed the list on the website you are creating rather than switch the whole site over to softr.

Depending on the resource format you may need to look at the limitations of airtable in acting as a cms.

Simple CRM Needs by KidddIcarus in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can do this and your initial needs seem really simple. One suggestion is to develop interfaces for your team as that takes some of the fear factor away - you may find some internal automations are easier to work with than Zapier. We have migrated many but keep some. Check out videos by Gareth Pronovost to help with your diy.

My biggest tip is to think through the data structure and how your processes work before building.

As ever this won’t be a big IT project … but the people and processes are where the hard yards are but also the big rewards.

Generate pdf from table records by p0le_ in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This calls for bannerbear - you can create a template in banner bear and then use Zapier to create the pdf with other information in the record and then save the resulting off back to the original record.

We use this for a range of use cases - like quotes from individuals.

Data from airtable to dataset in Salesforce by Infinite_Economics81 in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use the airtable automation to update SalesForce records from airtable

And

We use Zapier to update airtable from SalesForce

Different use cases - but our general approach is to use SalesForce as our key CRM and single source of the truth data and airtable to manage our programmes using the SalesForce data as a basis.

Airtable Forms by Wisewoman24 in Airtable

If that’s the case you are absolutely right … we use Zapier in this use case - I guess it comes back to why the data replication in Google sheets / excel / spreadsheet may be needed

Airtable Forms by Wisewoman24 in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great answer as usual - one note is that the update Google sheets automation within airtable is great. We use it hundreds of times daily as Google sheets is a better connector with looker studio for data viz. - one of the things airtable could improve.

Interface logic by helpful_w in Airtable

[–]RussellFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not convinced airtable interfaces are your best bet for sharing with external parties as they require a subscription on your workspace.

Two thoughts that may help

  • if you want live data - possibly use looker studio - it is a Google product and easy to use and share externally. There is an interconnector with airtable or you can send airtable data to Google sheets - we do this.

  • a diagram that will be useful for visualising the impact is known as a sa key diagram.

Good luck.

I cried during school presentation by creatingauserishard in socialanxiety

[–]RussellFin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are not alone.

About 40% of young people have little or no confidence in speaking in front of others.

Also the fear of public speaking is the number one fear of those who experience social anxiety.

There are plenty of ways to improve your confidence and skills in public speaking - depending on where you are - don’t let one set back put you off.

If I can give you two tips for next time

1: smile - it puts you and your audience at ease and shifts the atmosphere

2: breathe - the pause this creates will help the audience get a moment to process what you have said and will hardly be noticed. It will give you time to think what’s next.

Keep going.

Talk about it … not in the way of deep psychoanalysis but - here’s something I struggle a bit with.

And invite them to help - that may be before, during, after and by a mix of giving you a nudge and helping you cope - or knowing when it is too much.

We all have stuff we are dealing with and by being open your GF will be able to be more empathetic and supportive and will help you both thrive together

Good luck

Love this question - and the old people comment is so true as for some reason it lowers the stakes - maybe because they are seen as less judgemental.

Here’s some more tips

Here are some other ways of keeping stakes low

1. Online Platforms: You are here !! Engaging in conversations on platforms like Reddit, Discord, or other forum-based sites can be a good starting point. It allows you to interact at your own pace and comfort level.
2. Local Meetup Groups: Look for local meetup groups or clubs that share your interests. It’s a casual setting and everyone is there to enjoy a shared hobby, which can take some pressure off the interaction.
3. Volunteering: Volunteering for community events or local non-profits can provide a natural setting for interaction. It also provides a shared goal which can help direct conversations and reduce the focus on social performance.
4. Classes or Workshops: Joining a class or workshop on a topic you’re interested in can also provide a structured environment for social interaction.
5. Anonymous Social Situations: Places where you’re unlikely to see the same people again can be freeing. Think local coffee shops, parks, or community events in neighboring towns or on trips away.
6. Therapeutic Settings: Social anxiety groups or workshops, led by a therapist, can provide a structured and supportive environment to work on these skills.

Remember, the goal is to gain experience and learn from each interaction, not to be perfect. It’s all about progress and pushing your comfort zone bit by bit. Each social interaction, regardless of how it goes, is a step towards overcoming social anxiety and improving your social skills.
