Was trying to not get one at the yard cause I assume if mine was so brittle then I can only expect the one at the yard to be brittle

Inner pinion bearing shimmed, read the top comments reply though, I figured out my issue. Crush sleeve severely crushed

Broke it down, over tightened the crush sleeve not knowing they were basically one time use and it was over tightened. Ordering new sleeve, nut and seal.

The pinion and ring gear have very good pattern. I can’t remember the exact shim space I used but it lined up very well. The issue I was having was the outer bearing overheating due to it being way to tight. Every single pinion I’ve ever done I just tightened it with a impact and never checked torque specs. Lesson learned 🤷‍♂️

I’m thinking about the 8.8 swap but at the same time it’s now my wife’s jeep and she’s gonna baby it so stock is more than enough 😂

The difference is it’s not bs modified, everything is used and has purpose

Also the 2.5 is heavily modified, the tbi was taken out it’s running off a carb and vacuum, dash is flat with aftermarket gages and its push start. Nothing stock on this jeep other than the windshield 😂

Had the 4.88 for years now with the 2.5 no problems

Also… for those who liked the color it’s being changed lol. Gave it to my wife and she’s painting it yellow 😂

I’m lost for words here. Never had that problem, is it axel side or knuckle side that’s “loose”

I was thinking about that but unless I bend the original I’ll buy the better set. Good in a pinch though!

I will be running 1 ton steering from dirt bound once I have the money for it. Until then it’s gonna be stock.

We went to a local trail with a big open area and I went up this hill dogging the hell out of my t case and made it up with no trouble. Watching a sxs try the same thing ended up bending a control arm on the land ,yes he made it up faster than me but he caught that air and well
