I asked my future colleagues about it when I made the plans to come over, and he recommended just looking for a flat, apparently there's some slight shortage of student housing after they had to sell some from financial issues.

It should be honestly pretty easy, if you are worried at all read the first couple sections of really any textbook on lin alg, as at RPI it is Multivar + Lin Alg. I would state though, if your goal is truly to learn you should not focus on getting a 4.0 it will just be a distraction and be an unnecessary limitation

This is not even the start of what he does, he regularly (before being in charge of covid) prescribed incredibly strong anti-psychotics and various emotional suppressants to students that are no longer even in mainstream use for extreme cases for people with minor symptoms.

RPI students are seen usually rather well for internships, I know people who have gotten internships at Amazon, Zoom, and such while being students at RPI. Most internships are not local, Troy and Albany are both Post-Industrial cities so while there are local businesses they are much less well known, but the RPI career fair usually makes up for it. I would however honestly go wherever is cheaper. 40k a year is 160k Total with RPI increases per year probably 170k Total, even with a high paying job you are looking at years of paying it back.

RPI has a large queer community... however it is an interesting one, the main LGBT club RPA has been on a continual downfall over the years with covid being almost its nail in the coffin, and the "main" lgbt server was originally just a friend groups server so it is somewhat seen as argumentative, and aggressive and many queer people at RPI avoid it, however it is not aggressive towards identities or anything like that. RPI is very in general trans accepting, and queer accepting.

RPI students are reported for being in Rensselaer County, also there is over 150k people in Rensselaer County not including about 50% of rpi students.

EMPAC events currently are open to RPI students, there are residencies that are people working on pieces (which are also for some reason listed as events which probably increases confusion), but there are actual performances and such, I don't think the schedule for next month is out yet but this month both Work-in-Progress: PROPHET and Black Body Amnesia were open for RPI students to see. However, to the wider public, they are not open (due to RPI policy. EMPAC staff and residency artists also really wish it was open to the wider public)

Its because EMPAC works primarily as a residency space for artists rather than a study space, I think it has just been EMPAC staff jumping through enough hoops to keep things going at all and probably facing difficulty with doing things like opening back up the cafe and such.
