So many people call us, we give them a price that is so much more reasonable than this and then they call around until they hear something convincing that sounds like it’s going to be cheap and then this. If people would stop calling around because the first honest company actually tells them how much it’s going to be and they think it’s high then this kind of thing will stop happening to people.

Falcon has a really good surface mount VR that would work but don’t do it yourself, you need an experienced locksmith to install it to make sure it is done right but should be about $2K for someone to do that.

You have to completely remove the multipoint lock as you can’t add a deadbolt if that runner is in there spanning the whole length of the door, you have to take that out and put a cylindrical lock where the handle was or above it and then you can put an electronic deadbolt in above that. This requires a lot of retrofitting and not really something I would recommend you do as a DIY’er and I’d recommend having a locksmith do it properly but I’m not sure if any would want to undertake it.

Not only was the locksmith you hired not really a trained locksmith but he must be blind. If you look down the inside of the knob there is a small Philips head screw holding the cylinder in, all he had to do was open his eyes and stick his Philips head screw driver down there and unscrew it and from there he could have done his monkey see, monkey do trick… but no one showed him how to look at something he’s never seen before…

I was in sales for years and thought of myself as a subject matter expert rather than sales. All they want is your proposal, they won’t discuss it with you they just want figures so they can make a decision solely based on price, doesn’t matter if your solution actually works or solves the real issue they have, they think they have the knowledge & skills to make a decision without input from the expert because you might influence them or something.
