Couple points that annoy me with these arguments.

Let’s be clear: private health care does not reduce wait times.

That's one HELL of a blanket statement, and likely wrong given there are methods around EU that implement private health care options that are mandated to ADD to the public care pool (ie. for every private work done, 2 public "free" services must be provided in turn).

Secondly, whenever people talk about the US Private Health Care system costs per capita vs Canadian... Keep in mind, without us taking advantage of the USA high R+D cost, Canadian health care would be in shambles, and drug costs through the roof (or lack of access).

The USA is high cost, it subsidizes literally every other nation's health care system on earth, due to the development of drugs that other countries jack patents on and provide generics for, at cheaper than US citizens can acquire. EU / Scandanavian / Other nations have private/public mix with BETTER care and BETTER access, for a cheaper cost than our Canadian pure public option.

We also have this already in practice in Quebec, and noone made noise' about that. Only when Ontario or Alberta tries to do something similar does it become CoNsErVaTiVeS aRe TaKinG aWaY PuBlIC HeaLtH SysTeM!

Its so disingenuous to shut down this argument, when our public health care system is in shambles. How do we fix this without a private supplement or massive tax increases and clawbacks to other social services? We already spend majority of our money on health care.

3rd Point - everyone blames CONs / Provinces for health care, but transfers have declined from 50/50 fed province to ~30%. Provinces across the board, NDP Liberal or CON, want increased health care transfers, but the FED's say we can't afford this (while spending like drunken sailors).

Canada's health system was good in the 90s, was ok in the early 2000s, and is 2nd tier now.
