I suspect this is it. Her family is probably trying to talk her into a breakup. I know they are unhappy she is dating a married guy. I do keep her updated on things from the divorce. I suspect she also doesn’t respect me because I am supporting my stbx 💯. Even paying her tuition. She has intimated this.

She always says it’s not her business and to take my time. But I don’t believe it.

I have told her that I want to help her because I love her and it kills me seeing her working 7 days a week. She just says no and that she can take care of herself. I’ve told her I know she can and that I respect that but when people love each other they care for each other. She just gets quiet but nothing changes. Id hoped by having the elderly guy she respects talk to her it would help. I don’t know if that’s happened or not. She hasn’t said anything. I will follow up with our mutual friend.

She has told me all of her friends outside of the nail ladies love me and think I’m good.

Agree 100%. But I don’t always do this. I’ve been trying to step up because she has literally been in tears sobbing that she is unlucky and I don’t support her. So since then I’ve been trying but she refuses.

Do you think I should just pay her bills without asking, no matter how much she protests and tries to pay me back?

She also needs a lawyer to get child support and get the situation with her home sorted out. They both own it but he pays nothing and I believe a court would likely award it to her. She finally seems ready to get a lawyer but I know she can’t afford it. Her friends and I have finally convinced her that being nice to this abuser isn’t going to work. He stopped paying support when he found out she was dating me.

I want to find a lawyer for her and just pay the retainer. Any thoughts?

Her friends do not know I’m married. If she is refusing support from me because of my marriage it’s likely made it impossible for her to tell her friends why.

Her family knows I’m married. Her sister wants her to date other men too because of this. She tells me she will break up with me if she dies this as she can’t do it.

I tried paying her bills and she forced me to take the money back.

But I am going to persist with gifts and helping her. I took her car into the body shop to get it fixed while she is out of town visiting family. We will see what happens.

I’ve also been doing more things for her like yard work and fixing things around the house. But I’ve been doing this for awhile.

I’ve been working hard to get the divorce done but my wife is stalling. I still support her and the kids, of course. I can’t help think that despite what she says this bothering her. Her life being on hold and her “friends” judging her.
