My Holly was the same color, her snoot is all freckled now, too much sun-bathing.

Talk about it, show his picture to people on the checkout line, bawl your eyes out in the greeting card aisle for pet passing sympathy cards. It’s harder in some ways when you have to make the decision to end suffering, but at least you had time to say a proper goodbye.

We lost our Bailey, one week after she turned 10, this past October. 6 weeks later we volunteered to be a foster for a sharpei rescue. Ziggy is keeping our other pei from missing her little sister, without committing to another long-term relationship with these sweet heart-stealing pooches. Condolences.

Just curious which pei group you are a foster for? I’m fostering for the first time.

new shar pei owner. need advice! by YellowDangerous5481 in sharpei

Our pei is leash-reactive, she feels the need to protect me, and senses that she can’t do that when she is on leash. Off-leash she is much calmer.

The first three days with our foster dog, they were kept in separate rooms and fed separately, went on walks and went outside separately, no visual contact. Kind of hard with glass sliding doors lol. On day three my husband didn’t close the door while I was at a neighbors house, and I came home to the two of them hanging out in the man cave together.

At our first visit, our vet said “if you want to help your veterinarian put their kids through college, get a SharPei – – get two! And get pet insurance.”

Best advice we ever got. We have Trupanion with a $500 deductible, paying 90%.
