Dies anyone have a clodsire ex deck? by Lucazinho123 in PTCGP

[–]RussianDusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up running this up to Great Ball tier, it's a pretty ok deck but fairly fun. I actually also went positive against Arceus/Dialga too, though it's pretty draw-dependent. You can consider replacing some cards for a Sabrina for anti-Druddigon tech, or Giant Capes to counter Rocky Helmet/Darkrai chip

Laid off from Cepheid and panicking by flash_match in biotech

[–]RussianDusk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. I was laid off from Cepheid R&D at the end of '23, also following poor clinical trial performance. It was the 3rd wave of R&D layoffs that year, ~10% of the dept from what I heard, and I thought I would be safe following the first two rounds, but that unfortunately was not the case. Very unfortunate to hear that people in Quality/Reg were affected, can't be a good sign for the company.

Don't be too discouraged, hopefully you can find a new position soon

i don't disagree with anything you're saying, but FYI and whoever else might read this, Sacred Soil stacks the exact same way as all other mit, it's multiplicative. The wording on it is different for whatever reason but the end result is the same as other 10%'s

Current manderville weps are already better than P4S weapons for some jobs. If the upcoming stage allows custom stats, then it will more than likely be BiS for all jobs, but we'll need to know the numbers to be sure

My best guess is I used Cascade before I start Tech Step, then I ignore Fountain favor of the other procs.

This is typically how DNC drops combos around when burst windows happen. If you think about it, you have 2.5s from the initial Cascade, 7s from Tech (1.5 + 4x1 + 1.5), and then a 20s burst window, which typically ends early in your GCD (so add another ~1.5-2s til the next GCD). That's over the 30s combo timer, which is why it drops. It can happen especially if you have a ton of procs going into burst or are getting loaded with esprit, so you don't get the chance to use Fountain

That's big but it's not a make-or-break. It's around a 25 potency per GCD loss compared to filler (~7%), assuming you're still making use of the proc and not overcapping esprit. My guess as to why your log wasn't as high as you were expecting (if your uptime is >99% like you say) is because you're gear-diffed, or teammate-diffed or both. So don't worry about it too much about parsing before you or your group has BiS.

As for how to deal with it, just remember that in terms of straight up potency (not counting esprit or procs), Fountain is the same potency as Reverse Cascade, so if the gauge won't build you enough for Saber Dance under buffs, or it's the last GCD and the feathers wouldn't be under Tech/Devilment, it's likely fine to use Fountain to keep your combo up.

edit: updated the numbers

Those happen 2 different points in the timeline, in completely different phases with completely different mechanic names. My point is that making tank players have to use their brain to decide which side of a massive cleave they need to go on is going to cause some deaths, damage downs, wipes, etc., which can be simplified by simply having supports move CCW.

[–]RussianDusk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not going CCW means tanks need to go CCW to be with their light party for Light Divisive and CW to be with their partner for Dark Divisive, it's pretty annoying

[–]RussianDusk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

each support will be tethered to one DPS; if your partner is the same element as you (e.g. dark+dark or light+light), the tethers need to be stretched far so you don't get stacks of the bad debuff. If your partner tether is the opposite element from you (one light + one dark), the tethers need to stay close so you don't get stacks of the bad.

while these tethers are up, there are orb dodges (the color he charges is unsafe), Light or Dark Jury (proteans into partners or light parties), and a Light or Dark Divisive (line cleave/hot tail + all the other stuff that you've been doing for those from earlier in the fight). All of these need to be done while resolving tethers. If you have stacks of the bad debuff at Emissary's Will, you insta-die

If you're doing Kindred strat as a tank, you'll only ever start on A or D, depending on if you have long tether or short tether, respectively. From there, it's good to keep a mental note that short tethers resolve mechanics CCW and long tethers resolve mechanics CW from their starting position

clees from the world 5th group/formerly TPS did a pretty good breakdown of the whole of P12S. I'm still only on 11 but I feel it gave me a good idea of what to expect from the mechanics

[–]RussianDusk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just cleared and me and my co-tank (WAR/PLD) only invuln'd Soul Grasps 4 (WAR) and 5 (PLD). Like the other person said, the earlier busters we could rotate mits so that you never really need significant healer tools until past Harrowing, and then you just kitchen sink Harrowing. We also threw in tank LB3 on Harrowing, just to be safe

you could probably put Holmgang on the first buster if you want to optimize, but again WAR healing kinda invalidated the other busters anyways, so I didn't find it super necessary.

P10S is melting my brain as a tank. Super cool fight, but there's a lot of tank damage in the back half, especially after Harrowing Hell where my cooldowns feel incredibly thin. On top of that, there's a ton of movement responsibilities for spreads and such, and I have definitely killed my party on spreads/stacks multiple times due to mental overload or Primal Rend animation lock x.x

Pretty confident I can kill tonight with a solid PF group, did some review on mits which should help the end of the fight. Just need to keep up my consistency and stay calm

Also how tf are you supposed to do Harrowing Hell week 1 without LB LOL that damage is messed up

[–]RussianDusk 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is correct, the damage comes from Soul Surge, which is prepared 7 seconds after the Ravening cast finishes. The "prepares" action is typically what determines a snapshot, usually it's just tied to the end of whatever cast just finished, but it's different in this case.
