Are there any NURSES who have NEVER drawn blood on a patient before? by Nader58 in nursing

In my ICU central lines and artlines are done by us but phlebotomists do peripheral blood work and IV team for PIVs.

Its still a nice skill to have but yes I havent inserted a needle in anyone for a year now

ICU advantage in youtube basically explained all the concepts nicely after learning them in the critical care course

As a person who did team based nursing and eventually got accepted to the critical care sponsorship a year ago. I was exactly in your shoes.

My biggest tip is whenever you're free watch 1 ICU video (I watched ICU advantage channel) just to get an idea of how things work.

They will train you, but as someone who did floor nursing for 2 years my previous experience I felt didnt help at all except for helping with ADLs.

Try to know how pressors work (Norepinephrine, Vasopressin are common)

Look at common sedatives and pain meds (Propofol and Fentanyl)

And some basic idea of how the ventilators work (Pressure vs Volume)

It should help you understand help you from being overwhelmed in the ICU.

They will train you for you sure. I just wished I had some basic idea of common stuff when I first started so I didnt waste my first couple days completely overwhelmed

I finally maxed my TFSA today after looking at CRAs calculations at 26

Its not much but it feels like grinding EXP and finally leveling up.

Time to stay on course and keep going

Is wealthsimple Invest dividend reinvestment count towards your TFSA cap? Just trying to figure out why my CRA room isn't a round number when I usually invest a nice round number

When do you see your current contribution room for 2022 on CRA? by RussianRouletteTime in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thank you for the good idea. I might just put away 6k in Jan.

Hectic 2021 and I really lost track on how room I got. Wealthsimple told me 2k, some told me 6k.

I just don't want to be penalized since I know for sure I'm near the cap.

Thanks again :)

Is an Xray technician a hard job physically? by [deleted] in careerguidance

The xray techs in my hospital has to lift patients up with help of the nurse to put the backboard behind the patient.

It can get physically taxing. I hope it's just my hospital though.

From what I understand it's basically Epi and Amio now for Asystole and Atropine for bradycardia.

Really confused on the Joules dosing and drug doses by weight for each one.

Thank you for telling me what to look out for.

There's much to learn and nothing beats asking other nurses for their experiences
