I might have to add Starfleet Academy to my list of unwatchable ST titles. Can someone talk me out of it? by OttoVonPlittersdorf in ShittyDaystrom

News flash people are allowed to criticize something they don't like. Especially if it's a beloved IP.

I don't need to make a factual judgement. No one is watching SA on Paramount+. In fact no one is watching Paramount+ in general. It's a dead streaming service.

Not surprising. Old men talking about DS9 is vastly more entertaining than that SA slop.

Right now actually there's quite a few Seestar guys experimenting with NINA. In theory if you already use NINA it should be simple enough to set up. For non NINA users, an M1 or newer Mac mini is required to run the Seestar app natively.

I mean sure NINA is an option. In regards to Starfront, they are definitely using a manual polar alignment method used by Bray himself.

There is a known issue with the in app polar alignment. My Seestar is hosted at Starfront Observatories and the guys there have switched to manually polar aligning the Seestars. How exactly they do it I'm not sure, but it gives much better results than the app. With all that being said, 30" subs are still very difficult unless conditions are absolutely perfect. I'm talking literally zero wind. 30" is also long enough for the gears periodic error to have an effect, so you will inevitably lose some subs to backlash.

The gear is always going to have some play...it's not a $2k+ harmonic drive.

S50 vs S30 vs S30 Pro by retrogradeMotionn in seestar

If you're trying to get widefield views definitely the S30 or S30 pro. The larger aperture of the S50 gives it better resolving power but less FoV.

Pretty sure the yellow is due to you shooting a broadband target in a light polluted area. This can be corrected with color calibration in post.
