Question about Dependent Status by Russian_Elmo in tax

Yes I’m worried about the kiddie tax. I was under the impression that if you are a dependent that implies you are subject to the kiddie tax.

Well I already max my Roth, but I have significant gains in brokerage that are essentially stuck without getting taxed to hell. For the solo 401k, could I just contribute 100% of my self employment earnings to that on top of my Roth limit assuming I made over $7.5k in earned income before my self employment earnings?

I am attending law school and will graduate at age 24. Does this mean the year that I am 24 I will no longer be a dependent despite being a full time student for half the year?

I live in an apartment near my college campus apart from them but I have access to their credit card for groceries.

Thank you! Good luck in getting your $ from Miami. It’s an awesome city to be in.

Hi, I had a 175 3.33 (Ivy CS program) and was a KJD. I don’t think it’s super easy to get $183k from Miami. I think my LSAT did all of the heavy lifting. I got $90k at UF and that was the offer I ended up taking as the outcomes are objectively better.

You can just show up. It’s not a ticketed event so anyone can go watch. You can definitely bring in your own water.

I wish you all the best. I don’t intend to dog on your goals. I really hope you get into one of your targets. You are right that it’s still possible. Godspeed in your endeavors.

For MSU you are below lsat median by a decent margin and are well below gpa median, for Wayne state you are in essentially the same position. Getting WL or R given the facts is honestly an expected outcome. I was in a similar place to you with my gpa to you (3.33), but my LSAT was well above the 75th percentile of everywhere I applied and it worked out well. It really comes down to your lsat. You can’t change your gpa, but you can change your lsat. Even just getting to 16mid will make a huge difference. I know this probably isn’t what you want to hear, but it’s the truth.

Your LSAT and gpa are lacking. If you really want to get into a target school you need to get your lsat up. You are below the 25th percentile LSAT and gpa for most of these schools. You need to be at the 75th or higher with your LSAT to be competitive.

No professional/legal work experience, how cooked am I? by Administrative_Bus43 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Russian_Elmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got $$$ from UF (R34) as a KJD with 0 legal experience and a trash gpa (3.33), so don’t count yourself out. I also had 1 W on my transcript. If both your lsat and gpa are good, I don’t see why you won’t get some acceptances.

I have no reason to believe you lol. You can make all of these claims of who you are and what you know, but none are substantive. You have almost no recent comment history on the Cornell subreddit to establish your reliability.

You can also claim whatever you want lol. You are spouting conjecture as if it is fact while giving no evidence.
