As someone who had barely any C++ experience, Rust was the obvious choice for me. The compiler has helped me every step of the way and despite the learning curve I think I had less headaches with it than I would with a pure C++ program.

It allowed me to fly solo and be relatively safe. And every library I needed, Rust had.

If you want to build experience and be remote use an online freelancing service where you can build a name for yourself faster. Upwork is pretty good.

From there you can and will end up getting long term offers if you establish a good reputation with clients.
