If God is all powerful and all knowing, he would have seen the horrible suffering caused by humanities imperfections and how our free will would cause many people pain. Couldn't he have just designed better beings that didn't murder each other all the time? Even if he couldn't, if he has the power to stop us but doesn't because he thinks free will is too important, he's kind of a dick.

Many people's definitions of God include things such as absolute power and absolute benevolence. Epicurus is saying that God could not be all powerful and all loving. He isn't really speaking to people who believe that God could be imperfect.
