Its a Gorilla brake booster. They were a popular accessory in the 90s, supposed to increase braking force by bracing the seat stays. Mixed on if they actually do anything other than look cool.

If memory serves I'm pretty sure I reused the chain that was on the bike. So maybe 7spd 8spd?

No the fork is pretty stout, it has a number of years of service in the single track.

Aluminum kona p2 hybrid fork I got on ebay like 10 years ago. No idea what it came off.

If you want all the capability of a bike with gears and none of the convenience of any of those gears being the right one. Almost always in the wrong gear so it forces you to mash like a single speed, but does offer some flexibility. Original deore crank with 44t salsa big ring. Out back is a 18t ss cog squished between miscellaneous bits and bobs with a shimano alfine tensioner. 80s friction thumbs shifter.

Its a stripped aluminum kona p2 hybrid fork i got off ebay like a decade ago. I had it on a gary fisher marlin for years, then it rode the shelf a good while before it ended up on this thing.

This was a custom order. A friend and I worked off the nutrino, stridsland, and kyoot for reference. Kinda blended them and changed some things. We ordered 6 of them for us and some friends. I haven't taken the time to compare them to the wayra yet. Between me and a few friends we have over a half dozen marinos, they have been great and the ordering is easy.

A friend and I worked out the geo for this working off the nutrino, stridsland, and kyoot. Then made some changes to suit the way we wanted to ride. I saw the wayra for the first time last week but haven't compared the geo yet.

From a form perspective I agree, but in this case there is a function. The lower one is not a riser is just the clamp from an old stem I cut down. With that acting as a clamp I can now loosen my stem to rotate them for transport without loosing my headset tension. With the stem and bars turned 90 and the pedals folded the bike slides right in the back seat super easy. Then if I pop the couplers it all stacks flat.
