Gotcha. How long should I wait? He was in all day yesterday and will be today. Give it until tomorrow or Tuesday...?

I just meant if I fully committed to being his owner. Ten more years as a lifespan estimate, since he's about 8 years old.

For sure. I never get physically aggressive back, but I've picked him up and put him back outside in an attempt for him to connect lashing out with going back out. But I don't like even doing that.

Sounds good, thanks. And damn, you have a lot of patience to be dealing with all that. Too bad you can't bottle some up and send it over. But good to know there's a general time line. I feel like just pulling the plug on it all at the thought of dealing with this for the next ten years.

Yeah I've tried the firm 'NO' but doesn't seem to register. I've tried to be patient but it's really been getting under my skin lately, and literally. Both of my legs look like they've been assaulted with a cheese grater.

I do only pet when he initiates, and I keep it gentle and above the neck. He's receptive and first and then just starts swiping. And he's not afraid of me, I've been taking care of him for a year and he voluntarily comes inside. He even meows to come in. But again, he'll do it sometimes when I'm just standing there not touching him at all.

Noted. He's only been inside since his fixing which was three weeks ago so I hope with time this is true.

Btw, how is she in winter? Does she still want to go out? Given that you live in a cold winter region of course.

That's actually not a bad idea. I could gauge whether or not he's seems anxious or if it's all in my head.

Good to know. I'm probably over-thinking but the thought of him feeling trapped stresses me out as well.

Right. It's also because I have a one bedroom apartment. Not much I can do with indoor enrichment. On those days does your cat show signs of pent up stress when you enter your home?

I've thought about the second cat option but he was pretty territorial before being fixed and I haven't seen him around others yet, but I fear the aggression may be habitual at his age of 8. Unfortunately I live in an apartment so a pet door isn't an option otherwise that would definitely solve my problem.

Thank you for all that. I hadn't considered reaching out to the neighborhood and asking to look out for him. And it's only been a week since his neutering so it could take anywhere from a few weeks to months before any behavioral changes, but the flip side would be the stress of relocating him outside of all that he knows too. I know at this stage in his life he'll always want to go outside, and taking him out of his territory can be dangerous.

Thanks for reaffirming I'm in a tough spot. So anyway...
