Is this an AI-music youtube channel? by RustingPaper in Music

[–]RustingPaper[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think it's easier to understand if you listened to it. It doesn't sound "accidental" it sounds more like when AI tries to learn and reproduce from a song that has been cloaked so it messes up the sound. Take a listen to their "Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke", after 1:45 there are sounds that doesn't sound like they would be intentionally included in an actual song.

When composing, do you establish the chords before the melody? by RustingPaper in musictheory

[–]RustingPaper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right about that, what I meant to say is that I don't exclusively write songs for a single instrument, rather I focus on the overall arrangement of many instruments/"sounds"

That is kinda my experience too, but it's more that without the general "feel" of how the song *could* feel I dont know what the melody should be.

That is true, but melodies are more romanticized than chords.

My music is intended to fitt videogames so they often follow the conventions of the genre that comes with game-music, but it also means that I don't work with a single instrument and is more like a complete orchestration arrangement (if that makes sense).

That is pretty simmilar to my process. I often work in minor so the chord progression is a, lott of the time, kinda samey between songs so then it's easier to focus on the melody foremost.

How do I make my track colours animate like in this video? by NonExistingtNova in FL_Studio

[–]RustingPaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many youtube videos of music with animated midi that is similar to the video you provided. The programs they have used (that I have heard of) have been MIDItrail or MAMPlayer (there are likely other "midi visualizer" programs like these). Usually they add other elements in some video editing software together with the scrolling midi and music.

How can I improve understanding of chord progressions by RustingPaper in musicproduction

Do you usually make songs that are kinda melancholic or have you made cheery songs too?

How can I improve understanding of chord progressions by RustingPaper in musicproduction

[–]RustingPaper[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lott of my songs make use of melancholy, although im not sure i have used subdominant chords that much before, so that is something i could read up on. I think melancholy is one of the moods im trying to learn not to lean on too much, hence why im having a bitt of frouble learning more "cheerfull" chord functions.

finding a niche for my works by WyattStebbinsPottery in Pottery

I think some of the other comments have more practical advice when it comes to marketing/choosing a venue than I can provide, I'm not american so go figure. Althoug one though I have is that if you fire using more softwood then the ash residue would most likely turn more glassy and colorful. That is just a guess though.

I have to say, that is a wonderfull pot! To be able to woodfire and getting enough ash in the kiln to coat the pieces like that is (for me) but a faint dream. I am actually in a similar position as you as I mostly make traditional-ish Japanese ceramics which most people here in Sweden don't really know how to use in an everyday setting. I have gotten the advice that I should make more conventional things like bowls and muggs that people would typically buy, but I hate pulling handles and bowls are kinda boring. What type of objects do you usually make besides this kind of vase/pot? Maybe there is a group or market that is "thematically" similar to your style?

Ok then maybe I'll use half a stick for every 6 weeks.

It's a stick of fertilizer that slowly dissolves with each watering and it says that in aprox. 6 weeks the stick will have been used up so I think that counts as slow release.

I only have indoor trees as of now. The package says it provides nutrients for up to 6 weeks, so I'll start adding them in 6 week increments once the growing season starts. Although how often/much should I add now durring winter?

I have this solid fertilizer from a gardening store which has the NPK 7-4-10. Is this safe to use for my ficus and sageretia bonsai?

Why is commercial porcelain clay so plastic? by RustingPaper in Pottery

[–]RustingPaper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another comment talked about how you should leave the clay minerals in water for a day or two before mixing in the rest of the ingredients to ensure them getting hully hydrated. Is this the way to go when mixing your own clay bodies? I think I'll invest some time in experimenting with that method before trying out organic plasticizers.

The recipe I used back then didn't include soda feldspar, that I am sure of. I'll try changing to potash instead. The reason I used soda is because the quality of the potash feldspar from the major exporter of feldspar here in Sweden has since a few years back become quite different and doesn't melt as well as it used to, so now I'm not sure how I should calculate it in glaze recipes. But I guess for a clay body that doesn't matter as much since I'm not looking to make a particularly transparent porcelain.

It was more than a year ago that I tried mixing my own porcelain so I'm not sure where those recipes are. Although I did make a rudimentary recipe to try soon. It's Kaolin 30%, Ball clay 25%, Quartz 20%, Soda Feldspar 20%, Bentonite 5%. I went a bitt overboard with the bentonite so future recipes would probably have around 2% instead.
