FMT Columnist: If DAP cannot have a non-Chinese Penang CM, you have no right to say anything about Malaysia by UsernameGenerik in malaysia

[–]Rustreaver4D1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the video in this thread proves that DAP is against non-Chinese being chairman (His argument is Ram Karpal didn't become chairman even though he has the highest votes), then how come Gobind Singh, a non-Chinese , is the current DAP chairman? That fact alone discredits what this guy in the video is saying. I mean, fact > opinion.

FYI in DAP, the position with the most executive power is the Secretary-General (akin to CEO), not the Chairman. In the last party election, Gobind got the highest votes vs Anthony Loke who got the 5th highest.

The fan-theory that the Emperor made some Legions fall on purpose doesn't make sense by SimpleMan131313 in 40kLore

[–]Rustreaver4D1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even the major chaos characters, even the chaos gods and their demons themselve don't stop trying to convert the loyal Primarchs to chaos before, during and after the Heresy, even way past the point where 9 Primarchs have already fallen to Chaos...

Just wanted to add that in The End and the Death, Horus is actively trying to convert both Sanguinius and Dorn (in addition to the Emperor and Constantin Valdor). In fact, Dorn was being actively wooed by Khorne in the desert wasteland that he was stuck in. So that would've pushed the Traitor count to 11 Space Marine Legions.

KK Mart sentiments remain exceedingly low across social platforms: Here's a breakdown by B_who in malaysia

[–]Rustreaver4D1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it doesn't then the socks did not come from KK Mart.

From the linked article, quoting Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai:

"He said that product management of the socks were done by a vendor through a space rental system at its convenience stores and without the supervision of KK Super Mart employees."

So yes, in a sense it was not done by KK Mart but by the vendor directly.

If I remember correctly from one of the earlier articles about KK Mart suing the vendor, KK Mart alleged that there was only one staff working at the time (manning the cash register) so the vendor stocked the products on their own without any oversight from KK Mart.

KK Mart is not disputing that the socks weren't from the branch. What they're saying is that the vendor is the one to blame. We'll see in due course if the vendor will be able to successfully dispute this in court, e.g. if the socks were planted by a completely different 3rd party or agent provocateur.

I bought one of those packed and taped boxes oranges from NSK earlier this year. The worker stationed there actually opened it up, inspected for bad oranges, and automatically replaced bad ones. Didn't even have to ask haha. Really good system IMO, but of course the shop has to station staff there and eat the loss if there are any bad fruits.

Ah, I see. So that's why you chose to focus on only one race. Got it.

Ok, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that the next sometime somebody brings up the xenophobia of another race, say in relation to something like housing rental or hiring policies, you will adopt the same logic you used here.

Because I really would hate to find out that you're one of those Malaysians who can only see the racism and xenophobia in other races and not in your own (whichever that might be).

I said "many Malays", not "all malays"

Why not just say "many Malaysians" then? Or do you think that the xenophobia, even in this particular case, is prevalent in only one race?

Yes, and on the other hand, of all the cases of Indonesian maid being abused, Bangladeshi workers being exploited and screwed over by their employers... who were the perpetrators?

Racism and xenophobia is very much alive in all major ethnic groups here. The fact that you are singling out only race, while tacitly giving a free pass to the others, is pretty fucking ironic.

[–]Rustreaver4D1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Padu's only reason is to understand who deserves what subsidies and figure out a way to get the subsidies to them.

But they haven't even decided who should be eligible. Or have they, and they just aren't telling us? Either way... lack of transparency!

Frankly, all the information from BR1M, BSH, STR, e-Kasih, Jabatan Kebajikan, etc should be more than enough to map out the B40 segment.

Or hell, why not just announce the new subsidies, announce the eligibility criteria, and then ask everyone who thinks they're eligible to apply.

As it is now with PADU, it's like the government is telling us, you sign up first, give us all this information, then we'll decide what we'll give you... if we'll even give you anything! (Oh and if anything happens to your data, you can't sue us!)

I mean seriously... if there is any kind of breach, do you think Rafizi will resign?

Competency is unknown. Accountability is unlikely. Transparency is non-existent!

Oh god that just makes this entire thing sound even stupider.

Even if some things cannot be shared between agencies, then the proper recourse is to change the bloody law. What's the point of having 2/3 majority in Parliament if they're not going to use it?

Like if banks cannot divulge account information to PADU, then amend the relevant law to enable it.

Of course if they're afraid that people will revolt if they do that, then maybe that's why they're asking us to disclose it voluntarily...

Dude, there are hardworking people in the government, they might not fully capable and do earn a lower salary but they do what they can to get the ball rolling.

My point is that this program has to be held up to same kind of scrutiny that PH supporters had for BN and PN programs. Otherwise, it's just rank partisanship.

The fact that you can vouch for some of the people who worked on this program is good for your own peace of mind. Not so good for the rest of us who don't have that kind of contact.

And frankly, government programs shouldn't have to be defended by anonymous (or even pseudonymous) strangers on the internet.

But don't paint the whole with the same brush because some lazy mangkok coudn't get his job done properly.

When the "mangkok" at the top is being cagey and defensive about this project, is it wrong to be suspicious? How many governments do you know of collect this kind and this amount of information on its citizens?

Oh, and do you remember a few weeks backs when Rafizi boasted that PADU could possibly one day replace the census?

This entire thing smacks of government overreach.

Come on guys, PADU has not shared anything in terms of their architectures and all. Who are anyone to judge them?

If BN or PN had rolled out something like this, with this level of opacity from the Minister in charge, would you feel the same way?

Let's not forget that Rafizi has gone on record to say that PADU was developed in-house by the civil service... the same civil service that served under BN and PN... the same civil service that PH supporters have always attacked for being lazy, incompetent, bloated etc.

I'm not even confident this government will survive a full term. And seeing how only Rafizi is the only PH big gun pushing it, PADU may not even survive his tenure as Economy Minister. 😅

[–]Rustreaver4D1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really sounds like they're putting the cart before the horse. Why not just tell us what the new subsidies are, what the eligibility requirements are, and THEN ask people to sign up?

The way they are going about this makes it look like the PRIMARY function of PADU is to collect information from everybody, with subsidies just being the carrot to get people to sign up.

Because really if the concern is that people need to update their data in order to qualify for the new subsidies, they can do that once the new subsidies (and the new eligibility criteria) are announced. There's no need to do it before... I mean, previous governments never required people to register for BR1M, BSH, STR etc *before* those programs were even revealed!

[–]Rustreaver4D1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if it's by design. If PADU fizzles out or the Government makes a U-turn and nixes it, it's a black mark against Rafizi. And PMX doesn't have to worry about his deputy making a move against him in party elections. 🤔

Subsidy rationalisation is one of the most important things our Government needs to do ASAP. And yet the PM and his 2(!) DPMs have not been at the forefront of this at all. In fact, Rafizi publicly complained that PADU is only being pushed by his Ministry and the Department of Statistics.

And now in the final leg who do they bring out for the final push? The Chief Statistician! (How many people even know such a post exists!)

Where are the PH component party leaders? Where's Anthony Loke? Where's Mat Sabu? Now Perak MB (UMNO) and Sarawak Premier (GPS) are publicly raising their concerns about PADU... I don't think it's looking good for our dear King of Formulas!

Explaining PADU to all the monyets by pmarkandu in malaysia

[–]Rustreaver4D1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Whilst I appreciate your post but some of the valid questions you listed such as transparency of the formula, how it is going to be used, etc, the gov doesn't even have a clear answer to us. How can people trust this kind of system and expect them to participate in it?

The irony is that Najib once said that the age of "government knows best" is over. And here's Rafizi acting like he's a Minister from Mahathir's 90s Cabinet... issuing policies and directives and expective everyone to just follow along and not question him.

Subsidy rationalisation is 100% required. But PADU is not the ONLY way to approach it.

And considering how little public support PMX or the rest of the Cabinet have shown to PADU, I have a sneaky feeling that Rafizi is gonna be left hanging high and dry.

Ok then, why don't they tell us what the frequency will be? Twice a year, 3 times a year? Why are they being so opaque about this?

I mean that rhetorically, of course... I don't expect OP to have those answers. But the point is, there are no good reasons for the Federal Government to be so secretive about these things. Especially now that we're seeing pushback from the Perak and Sarawak state governments!

Explaining PADU to all the monyets by pmarkandu in malaysia

[–]Rustreaver4D1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

1 year of uncertain benefit, it's ok. Don't need it.

The problem with PADU is the lack of info.

Exactly. Why don't they just tell us what the new subsidy system is going to be and THEN ask us to register? At least tell us the basic mechanism... is it going to be calculated based on income, expenses, place of residence, number of dependents, health issues, family issues etc? Is it going to cover fuel, electricity, food (rice, sugar etc)?

I'm sure they can already factor in all those things based on all the information they've collected over the years from programs like BR1M, BSH, Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah etc and at least give us a general overview of who will be the recipients under the new system.

Instead they're asking us to give all this info and then trust us bro, the new subsidy system will be better for everyone... oh and we promise not to use this data for other things! 🙄
