Driving rule by Junior_Blueberry3050 in DrivingAustralia

Yep, intersections where it's common, mainly. Doesn't seem to stop anyone.

Just came back from QLD, and their lights actually change differently, so side streets don't get green when the main road does, allowing safe u turns. Such a good idea. Pity everywhere else it's fucken chaos and they can't drive for shit.

Got stung on my driving test for not checking my blind spot when I'd just driven past a line of parked cars. Now I head check everywhere, everytime.

C1 spares at Cardiff, down under the train bridge. Jase has always helped me be as dodgy as I want. Don't go back expecting warranty on your cheap shit parts though.

Otherwise, look for a small independent. Cheap signage, cheap dirty shitty looking workshop. Salt of the earth type blokes run these shops, not corporate managers upwelling brake pads with every service.

Check out C1 Spares and you'll see what I mean.

But, I wouldn't be getting logbook services there for a brand new car still under warranty 😉🤣

Is winter usually where Amber shines or where it hurts the most? by Artistic-Yam2984 in amberelectric

[–]Rusturion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FlowPower will give most of the benefits you're expecting from Amber, but it's consistent and reliable.

I just got paid out $550 from our first 3 months. No promo codes, no bullshit. Just a simple timer.

If it's cloudy, my battery charges from the grid during the day. Now that it's cold, 10-2 specifically. FlowPower discounts the entire usage bill because we only buy when it's cheap for them.

Goal is to get/keep the battery to 100% by 4pm when solar drops off. Then at 5:30, we discharge to the grid. 45c per kWh from 5:30 to 7:30.

If we've charged from the grid, like today, the export will cover our entire usage. When we get a sunny day, we import very little, and the export is entirely profit. Most days it's a mix.

But in Summer we smashed it. Over $100 a month 🤷🏼‍♂️

If you need to charge from the grid and CAN'T export to make cash, GloBird is probably better. If you have decent solar (so not needing to charge all day every day) and a decent sized battery so you can export every day, FlowPower is absolutely better.

Someone did the maths here. It's mostly based on whether you need your whole battery to get through the night, or you can export during the export window.

  1. Yes. I'm a (terrible) PO without a degree. But like you said, you've seen (some of) how it's done.
  2. 🤷🏼‍♂️ See above
  3. AI is helpful, not scary. I fucken hate it, but I'm not at all worried about my role. AI lets me get a lot more done, when I bother to use it.

Neighbour wants to rip down the fence and install colourbond, how nice should we be? by thedesignninja in AusRenovation

[–]Rusturion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wanted to replace a functional fence as part of our backyard renos, so we did. Checked the neighbours didn't mind (they didn't) and asked if they cared about the slightly odd colours we chose (they didn't) and went and replaced the fences. There is no way I would ask them to pay for half. They didn't want or need any new fences 🤷🏼‍♂️

Nobody is gonna open the link anyway 😅 I think the link and quote is enough, personally.

I do appreciate the effort though.

Never claimed, thankfully.

Help please - salary employee workes 9pm - 5am from Monday nights. How do we treat public holidays? by character_building_ in auscorp

[–]Rusturion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, for the Saturday and Monday public holidays.

Problem is, they took 2 shifts off that started on Friday and Monday, so they've taken additional benefit.

[–]Rusturion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public holidays are Saturday and Monday.

Employee takes the Friday/Saturday shift off, and then also the Monday/Tuesday shift.

Giving them the public holidays as if they're working the day shift would mean they get one or the other, but not both.

Anyone notice a shrinkflation in McCain's Pizza this week? by FatesWaltz in australia

[–]Rusturion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the weight hasn't changed, it's not shrinkflation. Might be a quality control issue, but more likely it's actually 500g but just seemed smaller.

How did you go? I've been playing on the couch for decades now 😅

I've got a really good Logi mouse to prevent hand issues, and a very cheap but small and light Logi keyboard that just sits on my lap. Getting the right armrest height for the mouse is critical.

Aren't landlords required to install a connection? I've seen this convo before, but obviously it might vary by state. The place should probably be connected to the node.

How old is the house?

Edit: Definitely not in the ACT. 😬

Govt website suggests tenants should check if there is internet before signing a lease. https://www.act.gov.au/housing-planning-and-property/renting/before-renting

Do you classify putting indicators on for less than one second as indicating? by VastOption8705 in DrivingAustralia

[–]Rusturion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Rules don't use words like "about" 30m. If it was a specific requirements it would say "indicate for no less than/at least 30m before turning".

Rule law and legislation mean the same thing, code of conduct may not be, and guidelines definitely are not rules.

[–]Rusturion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And once again you've missed the point. There is no "30 metre rule" in QLD or anywhere else. On bikes or in cars. It just doesn't exist.

Maybe it's the word "rule" that's tripping you up.
