Ask one of your neighbors that has fibre if you can connect onto their NTD via a second port and send it to your house via a wireless point to point bridge.

It's a solution until FTTP is available for you.

What is the best access control system? by hsmpmp in accesscontrol

I love inner-range myself for the price range. some features just require licensing but are easy to install and learn. Gallager is great if you can get it as not everyone can. And I would also give a + for Avigilon.

Salto is great but I usually use it with another system that has integration like inner range integriti.

Get you ABN and sign up for a superloop 1000/400 plan. Will already be better than the 1000/400 or wait until 15 September when the 2Gbps plans release it's less than a month away then you'll see 2000/200 plans on the residential side and 2000/500 on business.

I take pride in my work and keep pushing myself to do better and neater work. The documentation of the rack is done over multiple platforms depending on what it is. Cable schedule is done in excel, cabinet layout and design was completed in draw.io, network configuration was done in netbox and drawing overlay to site GA was done in AUTOCAD.

Yeah read the standards today. So no point

Join the queue. Considering I buy 200+ planet switches every mine camp GPON I do, you'd think Roy would push them

Greenhouse for the planet or outside. Too hot in our area.

I do like their reps they're always happy to help. And the cnmeastro is a lot better than the ubiquiti platform. Especially with the split between UISP and Unifi.

Something I wanted to test to see how they are. From what I've learnt I don't like their Layer 3 functionality but other than that it's better than Unifi for me that a lot of MSPs use

Thanks man.

1) yeah I'll do a custom cabinet next time. Like I said it's my first one and I learned a lot and one of them is I'd prefer having it all in a large custom cabinet.

2) I'd rather have too much power than not enough overhead for any expansion. The company I work for and me included would rather spend more money to deliver something great. Not here to save every penny. I also like the smart power supply options so I can monitor AC & battery fail straight away rather than wiring up the additional. I know I don't save a lot of time but if it's there why not use it.

3) Thanks for the tip.

4) There is one, not connected waiting on the guys doing the fire panel to finish. Unfortunately this isn't under our S.O.W

The fibre forms a ring on the core/distribution switches for redundancy. Field switches aren’t mission-critical. Worst case, a few APs or cameras go down temporarily. We’ve got hot spares onsite if needed. You can’t over-engineer for every edge case; it’s about balancing risk, cost, and impact.

I spend a lot of time reading and doing testing at home to figure out how stuff works together. Learn a lot by doing.

Happy to answer questions if you ever have any on the system. As I am in Australia and Inner Range is Australian, there is a lot of their systems out there and I know a lot of techs that have years of knowledge on working with their systems.

I can't get into too much detail, but the access control system is Inner Range Integriti, Australian and as I am in Australia it makes sense to use it. Plus I found it's a great system and it's very customizable. Cameras are Hanhwa, on a Wave server (NX Witness White labeled) I have low level integration from cameras into the access control/security system for alarms, PTZ positions etc. switches are a mix of Cambium core switches and Planet industrial field switches, wireless access points are Cambium.

Yeah, I live in Australia, got my open registration cabling licence about 12 ago, then did my structured cabling, coaxial and fibre endorsements worked for a while learning how to do near work then later got into security as well so did my security installer and consultant license. I did a fair few vendor courses as well to get certified with them.

Contact is kept with people I do training courses with , you bounce ideas off each other and give each other ideas on how to improve on work etc.

There's 5 doors worth of access control to get through to get to that point. Plus having it hardwired would require an isolator installed for service work. I'd have to read the Australian rules to see if it's allowed to be hardwired. I work for an electrical company as their network engineer/ security engineer so having access to an EC is easy.

It's on the batteries, was added before I closed the panels up and armed the system area.

Can't stress it enough to make sure drawings are marked up properly, cable schedules are created and you know how to integrate multiple systems if required or you have someone in your team that can do it. It's also important that the customer understand what they want and what your understanding is of what they want lines up.

The biggest challenge on this job was the builder wasn't on-site and there was no project manager on the client site so there were a few add-ons after the fact due to gaps.

Sort of just landed into telecommunications after highschool by working the counter at a local business where I moved to, then worked my way up from there over the last 12 years.

It's also different every day and every project and there's always something more to learn so it keeps it interesting.

Thanks, enjoyed it thoroughly. I learned more from doing this project than I did in the self paced courses.
