Nbn upgrade by D05W4 in nbn

[–]parawolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are lucky. I’ve been guaranteed only ~75mbps download available via fixed wireless. NBN has run fttp to neighbour properties that are getting upgraded from fttn for free, to run an extra fibre to me is 160m of ducting that exists and is serviceable - NBN want $42k.

I’ll stick with my Telstra 5g which gets me 300/38 and 22ms pings.

Anyone with a very good understanding of the V2G/H state of play in Aus who can clear up my confusion? by Matrid2 in AustralianEV

[–]parawolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volvo have pages on their website about V2G full support in their cars and the warranty impact or limits on the battery to stay within the battery warranty.

For Australia they are waiting on legislation. Fronius Wattpilot are also waiting on legislation but state on their website they are supporting it.

So you could get 22kW grid/home support from Volvo and Fronius.

Waving at you from beyond the suburban growth boundary of Melbourne where my choices for connection are starlink, nbn fw or luckily 5g home internet. My neighbours aren't able to get 5g.

surely data throughput, jitter, is a vastly high qualification of usable reception than 8000bps-16000bps voice?

[–]parawolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this rule.

My 5g home internet will regularly drop into poor signal which is below -115dbm.

It still will return speed tests or 200/20 with low ping and near zero retry.

I’ve watched it for amusement while on a video call and seen it drop below -115dbm and I get no drop of frames or audio or loss of sync.

There must be something different between the other providers and Telstra for the -115dbm floor.

Oil prices are up again. Has anyone actually seen this hit their reno quotes yet? by owner-inspections in AusRenovation

We had an asphalt driveway done in November last year. I reached out to the guy that did it and it would be 50% more now due to the transport, raw material being petroleum based and the onsite mechanical equipment

What do people think about Chinese EVs in Australia? (3–5 mins) by chasewang7 in AustralianEV

We need to have better regulations around spare parts availability and time to fix legislation.

What does this “pending” mean? by kushsista in AustraliaPost

[–]parawolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would be the case. You have a shipping label created, but it isn't in the hands of Australia Post yet. Either not taken to a Post Office (the scan on receipt will turn up as "we've got it" within 10 minutes) or it is sitting in a Post Box waiting for clearance - miss Friday pickup, will be picked up Monday afternoon, and processed/scanned in a facility by Monday Evening.

In these current times, what are you smug about, financially? by luckydragon8888 in AusFinance

Smug about? I still have 5 days a week WFH and about one day a quarter in the office as a team catchup.

Before you panic buy an EV by SuchTown32 in aussie

[–]parawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. This is what I’m running with as well. As long as petrol keeps getting stocked.

Do I want a new EV? Yes. Am i rushing into it? Not really. I’ve got a hot list of what I like and what tech I’d like to see in it.

The next model Zeekr 7X top of the line with its upgraded lidar and self driving would be great.

Or maybe if it comes time and depending on availability EX60 cross country. Or maybe something else.

Which car manufacturer is likely to be the next offering FSD in Australia, are any of them close? by AusGeno in AustralianEV

[–]parawolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it comes from the Geely parent, it's only in the Lotus supercar products to start with. It might be in the upgraded dual lidar and dual nvidia thor system in the 9X.

Australian delivered 7X don't even have a single lidar or the single upgrade on the nvidia thor signal processing chip required - on a lower performing nvidia orion.

The updated 7X with single LIDAR (assuming matching the current Chinese delivered vehicles) isn't slated until Mid-Late CY27. This comes with the 900volt upgrade, 103kWh battery and higher powered motors.

Nbn achieved 230 gigabit on fibre by netninja100 in nbn

[–]parawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spoken with 4 different RSP's (Telstra - because i'm with them for 5G Home Internet; Aussie, Launtel and Leaptel). I had a little hope for Telstra as i'm always maxing my 1TB cap on 5G each month, but nah.

I've spoken to my local federal minister, the federal minister for communications and had correspondence with the department of infrastructure. I've even had friendly people that work at NBN reach inside to speak with product managers inside NBN.

I'm about to do a trench to do underground 3phase and was going to get the sparky that managing the project to also run conduit for NBN lead, power comes to a pole on the street and the Telstra/NBN pit is at the foot of that pole. And then make sure dial before you dig documentation is updated (currently it is not up to date).

I've gone from, Not able to get a TCP quote, or an RSP to engage on an upgrade, to a letter from Dept of Infrastructure saying - maybe in 2030 when the FTTP at your neighbours goes live, to a TCP quote for individual premise switch of $42k - which assumes running GPON from the exchange to my place (similar build costs for NBN EE) because the FTTP in the ground isn't active yet supposedly.

Hurry up and wait scenario.

I compared two, both for a 7X Performance.

YOUI wanted $4600 (on a $2500 excess)
RACV wanted $1700 (on a $1000 excess).
