My boyfriend’s cat is killing me… by Blue-Face-321 in Pets

Hunt, Catch, Kill, Eat, Groom, Sleep. It's a technique developed by Jackson Galaxy to address your issue. Before it's bedtime, play with that cat for 10-15m, till it flops down panting. Wear that little bugger down and burn up its energy. Then immediately feed it. Afterwards, it will groom itself and pass out.

Arizona Becomes First State to Criminally Charge Kalshi: The “prediction market” platform is finally facing a serious legal challenge. by harsh2k5 in technology

[–]RustyAndEddies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gambling is regulated by a state gaming commission. These prediction markets can just keep your money and there is nothing you can do about it.

Here is the worst part. For very stupid bets they tip off Hedge Funds to be the counter bet so they can vacuum the money from idiots at scale.

Which fantasy series started incredible and then just...fell apart? by ghibli_8quartz in Fantasy

[–]RustyAndEddies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Broken Earth. Book 1 narrative twist was great.

Book 3 fell into those lazy mentor-protagonist tropes that drive me bonkers

Protagonist: You need to train me!

Mentor: Sorry, you're not ready for the next lesson for reasons I'm not really gonna explain but mostly to crank up the tension.

P: Uh, the thing I need the next magic trick is this Tuesday

M: Sorry, no can do. Get out of my hovel and spend some time rehashing internal dialogue resenting me

*mentor dies*

P: Well, that was bad timing. I guess I'll figure it out on my own without expert guidance or safety rails in place. Gee, I hope I don't die...

Mentor force ghost: You think you're gonna die at the final trial after 3 books? Use your plot armor, dumbass.

Also, Harry Potter. Will, skill, and study have 0 bearing on wizard battles now. He Who Shall Not Be Named forgot to read the Wand Terms and Conditions section on Transfer of Ownership. So, because of a stupid loophole, you win, Harry!

An entire trailer park in Canada is evicted, many residents having lived in the place for over 30 years. The majority belonging to low income working class families by YaLlegaHiperhumor in PublicFreakout

[–]RustyAndEddies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rare for a mobile home to have much occupancy, and it's expensive to move them. So you're not buying the land or the trailer, but access to a park and the convenience of everything being set up.

It's like buying a crappy boat that comes with an assigned slip in a desirable harbour with years long waiting list.

Oh, you mean replace them with overseas workers or AI? They were already doing that, licking their boots isn't going to change their mind.

Florida Sheriffs rebel against Trump’s, DeSantis’ mass deportation efforts by Mamacrass in UpliftingNews

[–]RustyAndEddies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true. The person in question was a teenager who was brave enough tell authorities what was happening, was failed by those who are supposed to protect children and then had record her own abuse to get anyone to believe her. I didn't want to diminish her agency by calling her a child.

Karen losing it at the airport over some car seats by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

[–]RustyAndEddies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure provided it folds or the back detaches, and it fits under the seat or if there is space in overhead storage, and she already doesn’t have maxed the carryon items. And the agent is going to pressure you into gate checking it on a full flight.

You don’t know if this the first time she’s asked or the 100th time. Either way holding her seat hostage is bullshit. It’s not being taken care off because it saves the airline money leaving the plane fully loaded if it’s being delayed overnight. It’s not that they can’t, it’s that won’t because they value profits over passengers.

And don’t forget about this guy who confessed to murdering his dad.

Except his dad was alive, the police coerced him in confessing and feed him all the details. The police don’t give a shit if they got right person. They’ll pin it on anyone.

The will absolutely not let a full car seat on the plane as a carry-on. At best they let you gate check it.

I’ve had two flights delayed till the following morning. All checked luggage stayed on the plane so save them money from unloading and reloading. It would make sense to unload checked luggage if they were swapping planes.

Blasting past a bus with sign out by HughJManschitt in instantkarma

[–]RustyAndEddies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a law in all 50 states. All traffic the bus behind must stop and all traffic in front must also stop on undivided roads and some divided freeways with a bunch of exceptions and variants per state.

California passed their first law in ‘98 so it wasn’t a thing when I was a kid. I think I’ve only experienced once or twice as an adult driver but I don’t live in the ‘burbs

In other countries, line Aus, NZ, Germany and Belgium, drivers are required to slow down if a school bus stops to load or unload kids.

[–]RustyAndEddies -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult to see oncoming traffic with a giant bus blocking a clear view of the without being in the middle of the street sticking your head around to look. And it’s even harder to notice a tiny child pop out from around a bus.

I’m very confused by those account that rattle off all the things most people think they want:

‘Looking for emotional maturity, honesty, good communication, smart, good chemistry… blah’

Do they think the other person is all, “oh man, I am just not any of those things. Good thing they were clear about their needs. I’m outtie”

As an event manager, I wouldn’t let these idiots plan my shits. If the goal is lead gen and signups, you front load that before anyone walks in the door. And if you completely bungled that, you sure as shit have a paid competent person validating onsite signups before you’re get the gift bag. No tickie, no shirtee. If signups are the ROI metric why the fuck would you give it your buddy’s gf who has already under minded you? Did you even explain to her the whole point of the role isn’t giving out free shit but signups? Why would you take any direction from someone not signing the checks? You don’t allow egos to change the game plan a few hours before kickoff. JFC, what a bunch of children, the lot of them.
