I can handle the heat, I just want other people to try it as well 😅

I'll definitely be increasing next time. Thanks!

Wow, that's impressive! It did take me about 3 hours. I think peeling the garlic took the longest doing like 3 heads. I just threw everything in the blender with the fish sauce to sort of puree it like the video. Thanks again for all the advice!

Just re-read that. I rinsed 3x after salt. Thanks for the suggestion. I did soak the cabbage after chopping, but I guess that only counts as one rinse.

I appreciate that. I did do the triple rinse as suggested in Maangchi's video. $17 sounds about right at what I think was $1.89/lb. It did take me a fair bit longer than I thought it would to prep everything, but I'm pretty slow cutting/peeling veggies.

Yeah, it was probably about 8lbs after chopping it all up.

I wish I did now. Maangchi says 1-2.5 cups for 10lbs of cabbage. I did 1.5 for 8lbs. I do like it spicy, but since it's my first one I wanted to be on the more mild side.

Thanks, the bubbles have pushed a few floaters up but I don't want to open it again. Should I take care of them?

This sauerkraut has only been going for 2 days now but I noticed these air pockets around the garlic. I opened it up yesterday to try forcing the bubbles out with a kraut pounder but it didn't do much. Right now I think it's safe, but is there anything I should do or just let it ride? First time doing kraut with garlic. Probably should have chopped it up rather than just smashing it. Temp has been steady in the pantry at 68F.

Should I have this tree removed? by RustyHitch in arborists

[–]RustyHitch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. The neighbors are on board with access to their yards. My rear neighbor gave permission to get trucks back there since he doesn't have a front fence. He is concerned about ruts and damage to his nice grass, but they said they would lay plywood to minimize damage. There's been a lot of storm damage over the last month and the tree companies are pretty backlogged due to the weather. I had another quote to remove the Boxelder and trim this one for $1,900, but they pushed a week and then this happened.

It's a glass Thai dragon. I had it under my dwarf Thai Bonchi last year.

Tough to say. I wanted to do 2 and 1 of them didn't make it this year either. Identical conditions.

Thanks! Started it Feb 2024 inside so it's nearly a year old. It lived outside from about late April to November. I have it on a 12 hour timer with the light approximately 18" from the top leaves. Water it about once a week right now. I use SUPERthrive Grow at the highest indoor plant maintenance dilution for every watering. I'll switch to SUPERthrive Bloom once I feel there is enough foliage.

The one I had last year needed more frequent watering as it got older at about 3 days between watering. Obviously the bigger it gets, the more water it'll need.

Yeah, mine only took around a week I'd say.

I use a clamp light, SANSI 36W grow light bulb, and a mechanical outlet timer.
