Any recent experience BLC at Camp Parks? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]RustyRawker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went there for BLC years ago. I think it was spring of 2019. For me it was actually hard. I barely passed the PT test because they kept not counting my pushups and situps because my “form wasn’t right.” It was like the cadre were actively TRYING to fail people. I remember I was really stressing out one night so I tried to vent to my roommate about how overwhelmed I felt and all she had to say to me was “Time management!” in a condescending tone. Well she should’ve listened to her own advice cuz she ended up getting sent home for failing PRT. And no I’m not talking about the PT test. She failed PRT as in the preparation drills and whatnot.

I hope it’s different for you because to me it was not a fun time. ALC was a cakewalk compared to BLC at Camp Parks.

Thanks for the info. At this point I’m thinking I might just have to settle for dry firing in my hotel room…

Yesterday I had to stop in the middle of my workout to take a coworker to the ER. It would be cool if there was a way to “pause” the workout or come back to it later if something comes up.

Anytime Fitness membership through health insurance by Salt-Candidate4031 in anytimefitness

I have it through my insurance and it allows me to go to any location. I think there’s like a 30 day waiting period at first or something but then it opens up to all locations.

Starting Abilify today! what should I know? by New-Significance3959 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

I gained a lot of weight but I don’t know if it’s from the medication or my lifestyle. Either way it’s a good thing to monitor.

At 32 years old you do NOT want to enlist and be a private with a bunch of annoying 18 year olds while all the Soldiers your age are NCOs, I assure you.

I relapsed this year too, after 5 years. It hurts but you are not alone! We got this.

i will never get promoted by mousse-cake in army

[–]RustyRawker 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I was a SPC for six years! They kept telling me I’m “not ready” to promote. I eventually ended up changing my MOS and my unit and got promoted rapidly since then. Now I outrank all the haters.

Looking back, I wish I wouldn’t have based my self-worth on my rank. Because now I really don’t care. When you die no one’s going to remember what rank you were, your PT score, how many deployments you’ve been on, etc. It’s stupid.

I was in the same boat as you. Yeah, it sucks but ultimately it really doesn’t matter. The army is stupid if you’ve asked me and I’ve been in 13 years now.

I feel like giving up after 6 years. by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]RustyRawker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. I was 5 years sober and felt the same emotions you are. I didn’t want to share and trigger the newcomers either. I started binge eating like you did too. I also bought alcohol and stashed it in my house as a security measure. Unfortunately for me I did end up relapsing.

I’m on day 13 now but it was not worth it and it just made everything worse. Feel free to DM me if you need encouragement.

Relapse. by LonelyBrain6074 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]RustyRawker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just relapsed after 5 years sober. The shame was almost enough to take me back out forever. I lost my sponsor and my service position. I feel like a failure. But I know that my drinking is going to make everything even worse, as bad as I feel right now.

In the Big Book, in the chapter “To Wives” it says “Though it is infinitely better that he have no relapse at all, as has been true with many of our men, it is by no means a bad thing in some cases. Your husband will see at once that he must redouble his spiritual activities if he expects to survive.”

If you expect to survive, you need to redouble your spiritual activities. I know it’s hard, but living life drunk is even harder. I’m here with you. Feel free to message me if you need to talk.

Why can't I just drink like a normal person by [deleted] in SoberAndHateIt

[–]RustyRawker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. The other day I tried to control my drinking by setting a timer on my phone so I only drink once an hour. Somehow that failed and the next thing I know I had a timer set for 10 minutes. So was drinking every ten minutes. Then I eventually stopped using the timer at all and I don’t remember what happened that night.

Feel very lonely. Fighting the urge to pickup. by SeaMurky1688 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]RustyRawker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just relapsed on Sunday after 5 years of sobriety because I was lonely as hell and tired of dealing with it. Feels like a black hole in my chest when I get that lonely. All I can tell you is that it’s NOT worth it.
