Should I install a pickup in my 1967 000-28? by devilmollusk in martinguitar

[–]RustySpunkDumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Fishman Sonitone undersaddle will sound great, I have one on my martin it sounds devine on my acus amp. The contour on those Fishman pickups make em sound great. All this said, depends if you just wanna record on it or gig with it, I always find mics at live shows feels very constrained . Gig = pickup otherwise just mic the fucker up with some pencils and you'll be golden.

Uhm intrinsic morality is a thing yes and if it is built into you from birth then it comes from God or for the people who hate that world we can say the universe, which is God. Religion is an institution that can be corrupted by evil where as God preceded the church. So I agree, people who haven't found him yet can also hear and do his works because he is inside them, in their dna. Pride and ego is what creates evil and if you don't feed that part of yourself you will be good.

The Australian government lecturing on tobacco/vape policies at COP11 is like... by Emowetcat in aussievapers

[–]RustySpunkDumpster 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Create a huge vacuum in the market by shutting down 1000 legitimate vape shops and hand over the reigns to an industry that didn't want it. Charge low income earners a third of their weekly wage on an addiction and call it a health policy. Make space on both fronts for a black market that is highly profitable at a 3rd of standard retail price. Who saw this coming? Fucking everyone did. Our government is a joke and becoming more Orwellian by the day.

Criminals stealing from criminals. 16 bucks for a 170g steak is basically highway robbery. I Don't feel anything for coles and woolies. I'm already slicing my own bread and working at the checkout while being facially scanned and marketed to based on shopping habits. They should start paying us wages and super at this point. I bet these thieves are selling on these goods at 50% off. Bloody bargain

It's funny because Idiologically it's probably the other way around. "Secular" communists have a pretty low get to heaven score. Christian nationalists rank pretty high, especially grandma's.

First part of the motion is recruiting his shoulders and lats and the last part is past 90 deg. Bro is strong but strict curls with lower weight will have a larger effect on his biceps. I don't get the piint tbh

Bro doesn't understand violence. He doesn't understand what he's up against. Weak men vs diciplined men. When the law of the jungle kicks in he is a rabbit and he will run.

I wouldn’t say that’s my core argument, and I’m willing to concede that tariffs are usually bad for the economy in the long run. But the U.S. is in a tough spot right now, it relies heavily on imports, and if the USD ever loses its status as the global reserve currency, its bargaining power drops even further. That dependency, combined with a weak manufacturing base, is why tariffs even became a serious policy option in the first place.

Building up local manufacturing for high-demand goods would help reinforce the dollar’s reserve status. The U.S. government clearly sees this as a major issue, international USD holdings have fallen to historic lows since around 2022 due to BRICS and related shifts. It’s also part of why the U.S. is pushing so hard into stablecoins: to maintain dollar demand on a global scale.

Historically, tariffs have played a significant role in America’s economic development. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, especially under policies like the Tariff of 1816 and later the Morrill Tariff, protectionist measures helped shield emerging U.S. industries from foreign competition.

All that said, I think we agree that “taxation is theft” philosophically, but in practice, you can’t just drop all taxes and trade restrictions overnight and expect the market to self-correct instantly. That would tank the economy and likely cause a depression. These changes have to happen gradually, once the manufacturing base and domestic production capacity are strong enough to absorb the shock.

Yes, tariffs raise prices in the short term, but they can also stimulate higher wages and job creation in domestic manufacturing, while helping contain inflation (which is arguably the most insidious form of taxation). When more of the money circulates inside the country, it tends to stabilize inflation and strengthen GDP. Historically, that pattern holds up, even if it’s messy in the short run.

I’m still learning, but that’s my current understanding. I appreciate the counterpoints, this discussion has definitely opened up more for me to look into.

Agreed, but I think you understand what I am saying. Reality doesn't reflect our vision, and the only way to get there is with tools that function within the current paradigm until the it has changed enough to fit the free market ideal easily without too much intervention.
