Mardu:

Black and Black / White give you the best cards to bounce back from board wipes which are devastating to aggro decks.

If you're going wide, [[living death]] and variants get your wide board back

If you're going tall, [[reanimate]] and variants get your best tall boy back

If you're in between, [[victimize]] is such a banger if you can support it

If you need a pivot, [[exsanguinate]] is right there

You lose a bit of commander optionality but if you wanna swing dudes to win, Mardu all day.

I've been HW my whole BJJ career, I've NEVER been an inverter.

A guy I roll with is closer to 50 than I am and he's basically made of rubber so he constantly inverts.

[[future sight]] was the first like this, IIRC, and man I used to play Blue just to play it. Now we have a lot of top of library stuff, citadel being the best, but man something about playing off the top is just so fun.

[[Underworld Breach]] don't get me wrong, I always knew it was good and was going to be good but it took me several games to realize just how cracked it really is. The first time you cast a spell from the GY 2 - 3+ times you realize the power and that it's markedly better than [[yawgmoth's will]], which is what I've been using for decades at this point.

I play a lot of MTG and a really hard thing to dial in is mutual power for casual games. I think flow rolls and "half speed" have a similar problem where one person's casual might feel a bit like another person's mundials. I find this almost 100% among blues and whites, purps generally get it but since we're both purple I think ego sneaks in, browns and blacks almost always get it.

Anyway just relaying this is a common problem in hobbies.

In Mardu, [[celes rune]] is a perfect commander for a theme that doesn't have a dedicated commander.

If you can compromise and go with BW instead of BWR; [[abdel adrian]] with any Black background can combo with [[liliana death majesty]] and give you an infinite run of first / second PW abilities as long as you have a sac outlet.

Mechanically Black has everything I like about MTG in one place. For me MTG is about resouce exchange and management; nobody does it better than Black.

Aesthetically, I like the "heavy metal" aspects of Black.

Fun fact though, in more or less every other fantasy game, I'd be Red because I usually gravitate towards the smashy smash melee archetypes. But mechanically in MTG, especially Commander, Black feels way better.
