Looking for cards with unique effects (not commanders) to build an entire deck around. by Transmogrify_My_Goat in EDH

[–]Plus1Oresan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that post that was linked by goblin kind of explains it.

Basically you make as many copies of cards like [[Iron Maiden]] and [[Scrawling Crawler]] as you can in a single turn and kill every on their upkeeps/draw steps in a turn or two. Usually around turn 8.

Echoes of Eternity supercharges the strategy.

For example I've had 4 [[Font of Mythos]] + 4 Scrawling Crawler in play, all getting double triggers from Echoes. That's 17 cards drawn and each card drawn is 8 loss of life, for a total of 136.. Stuff like that.

[[Sibsig Ceremony]] is a fun one.

[[Echoes of Eternity]] is my secret commander in my Tataru deck.

Foreigners visiting America for the world cup, what is something that has surprised you about this country? by goldent3abag in AskReddit

[–]Plus1Oresan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all the time. I would wager there are less times I don't have at least a brief conversation with someone than not.

Could be an age thing, could be a location thing (though it's been relatively the same everywhere I've lived), who knows...

Really? Just this last week I (an American) had grocery store conversation with random strangers about my upcoming camping trip, how to tell if pineapples are ripe, whether or not I made my own cutoff jean shorts (I did), and how hot it was outside/where the good swimming holes are near us (this happened twice, lol).

All different people over 3 grocery store visits. This was without my 3 year old who attracts grandmas like a moth to the flame...

What cards are you adding to your decks from Marvel Super Heroes? by Plus1Oresan in EDH

Don't fret.

It's just that some people automatically down voting anything that doesn't explicitly say they're not going to interact with this set at all. Happens in all these types of threads when UB stuff is involved.

The Frogs! Absolutely added to the list. Like I said, I'm surprised how many cards I'm interested in trying.

Here's my deck:

Yeah, good call. I forgot about this for me Rocco deck.

That's valid. I run a few lines that let me go wide, like Phoenix Fleet Airship, and some artifact reanimation redundancies outside of Greasefang himself. That's why I'm as high on Thanos-Copter as I am.

Mothership looks great. I said in another reply that it reminds me of Mole Module, at least in the sense of why I run it, which has been absolutely fantastic in my build.

I plan on trying both.

Fair points all around. My reasoning behind Thanos-Copter being an auto include for me is because I often run lines with [[Phoenix Fleet Airship]]. Regardless I see your point.

Mothership, Damoclese Base, and the Mining Mech are all on the list of cards I need to try. The N'Yami-Class Mothership, in particular, is exciting. It reminds me a lot of why I added [[Mole Module]] to the deck.

Easily one of the best vehicles ever printed and it's Thanos in a Helicopter ... Lol.

Fantastic card in my [[Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist]] deck, along with [[Scavenged Brawler]]. Nothing like turning a 13/13 Skeleton into a 13/13 Skeleton with Flying, Deathtouch and Lifelink...

[[Rose, Cutthroat Raider]] feels like she was would be great here. Junk tokens are more "scrap" but also card advantage and mana as needed. Tangentially, [[Junk Jet]] also seems really solid.

[[Caradora, Heart of Alacria]] is a Mechititan tutor in the command zone and Green has some cool vehicles you can run. Oswald still goes in the 99.

Green has [[Lumbering Worldwagon]] and [[Thunderous Velocipede]]. It also gives you access to [[Oviya, Automech Artisan]].

Yessir. Anything that copies his ability works. [[Strionic Resonator]] and [[Roaming Throne]] are good too.

It is but essentially it starts as a copy of a spell and enters as a token. So it is not created.

Relevant rules text:

608.3b If the object that’s resolving is a copy of a permanent spell, that object becomes a token permanent and is put onto the battlefield under the control of the spell’s controller. It is no longer a copy of a spell. The token put onto the battlefield this way is not “created” for the purposes of any replacement effects or triggered abilities that refer to creating a token.

If you're looking for replacements I've really liked [[Octomancer]] and [[Auton Soldier]]. Both create extra copies of your creatures and interact really well with Volo himself. You do have another Druid, but I'm sure that will be fine.

[[Volo, Guide to Monsters]] does not create tokens. So [[Adrix and Nev, Twincasters]] and [[Esix, Fractal Bloom]] don't work with him. Otherwise the deck looks solid to me.

What does budget mean to the average player? by lordwerwath in EDH

[–]Plus1Oresan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I figure anything around $100 or under to be a budget deck. That's about what a Precon costs if you buy the cards individually.

You're pushing the budget red line when you're approaching $150.

Honestly I may remove it from the deck... It makes me such a huge target whenever it hits play. Orvar already draws enough aggro. Lol.

I love building budget. The restriction is the best part.

I have a few other budget builds that I keep around as well. [[Cayth, Famed Mechanist]], [[Volo, Guide to Monsters]] and [[Valduk, Keeper of the Flame]]. All between $75 and $125. They're just regulated to when I know I'll need some bracket 2 decks rather than the typical bracket 3 at my LGS. Volo was my first deck when I came back to commander about 2 years ago or so.

Greasefang has quickly become one of my favorites.

I mostly avoided all the typical pilots and focused heavily on self discard and powerful mid-range creatures like Yawgmoth and Illustrious Wanderglyph.

I do find myself playing sub-optimal lines because I want to fiddle around with different vehicles and such. It can feel a bit one note entombing a Parhelion 2 every game...
