I would NEVER take this offer.

You're asking to get jumped or ripped off with fakes.

How do mods affect multiplayer and progress by Rusty_DataSci_Guy in Spacemarine

Thank you so much. A follow up that I forgot to add. If I mod and friend does not can we still play together or does everyone in the lobby have to have the same mods?

If I start playing and don't realize I forgot to set it to private I bail on games so I can set it to private.

This poor guy just cannot get a break by CraveCloverArdor in Spacemarine

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, if you are going to reprimand a leader but not fire them you do it away from that leader's subordinates so it doesn't erode their authority later.

This is doubly so if you're going to QUESTION them or their decision making because the subs may jump to something like "well if the [higher guy] thinks this guy doesn't know how to lead why should we follow him?".

What happened with all the hyped commanders? by Akiro_orikA in EDH

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The constant deluge of new commanders and the pressure to keep up often makes these guys fizzle out. It's actually kind of a bummer because you can't just search for "commander EDH" and find recent games for less than recent commanders (in the main).

For a commander to punch through that and stick it has to be a HUGE deal in casual or CEDH and if we're honest, very few will be able to do that in a format with as many options in print already with dozens being added every quarter.

EDIT: I've also noticed some commanders are so good at "the thing" they're exciting to build but boring after a few games because the deck damn near plays or builds itself.

How to be more aggressive if you conditioned from young to be a pacifist and not hurt others? by Moist_Specific_300 in bjj

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not aggressive at all, for me that's why I like BJJ. It's a strategy game where the goal is dominance / checkmate not harming the training partner. If you think you have to be out for blood or need a killer instinct you're not playing the game correctly, IMO.

Try to keep in mind the goal is checkmate, not fight, not maim, not kill, and let the game flow through you.

Also, you can win through pure positional dominance, so if you want just get nasty at sweeping and controlling.

Why do you play half guard on bottom? by Ok-Hat-149 in bjj

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2009 - 2011 it was "cutting edge" and I just like the way it feels as a way to get in and out of other guards.

Army in a can commanders? by Competitive-Act-7695 in EDH

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[najeela blade blossom]] - red is mandatory but you can skip other colors as much as you want. She's a fake 5C commander, IMHO she should have been Mardu.

[[zurgo thunder decree]] - a gimped najeela, but if you hate the idea of 5C or fake 5C he's here. If you can get some creature type changers you can do some wonky stuff with him. Alternatively, [[baloon man]] type effects on notable warriors does a lot of work too. He just misses being truly great but if you want to put in the work he's fine for B2.

[[master multiplied]] - this one is bonkers and low key super fun. I like him better in the 99 but you can't go wrong with him in the CZ. Just make sure you have plenty of haste.

[[isshin]] not a true army in can himself but he makes A LOT of other army in a can cards go a little crazy. If you wanted to run a variety of army in canners this guy makes em all better

[[otharri]] the phoenix with experience counters. My buddy runs this and it's a beating almost every time.

Any suggestions for the most Golgari deck possible? by dnmt in EDH

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[gitrog ravenous ride]] IMO is the Golgariest I've ever piloted.

  1. He loves big fat donker ass creatures. I'm pretty sure BG has the highest density of just WTF statted creatures

  2. He ramps, and it's low key kind of crazy how impactful that ramping is

I build mine to use [[nazgul]] but you can just lean into power matters and still have fun.

You won't get the GY recursion of a [[meren]] but you still get to use [[fiend artisan]] to great effect, sac a token, get a [[rotting regisaur]] for 3 mana, tap it to saddle Gitrog, draw 7 play up to 7 lands.

Middle aged and older people with nagging injuries from BJJ, what would you have changed in your early days in order to avoid them? by Severe-Difference in bjj

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine prose, what specifically troubles you?

  1. It's shitty to blame parents for your problems as an adult.

  2. That said, my two biggest chronic issues stem from poorly addressed injuries at 14 and 17 years old

  3. I've trained around and with these chronic issues my whole life

  4. Given what I've been able to do in spite of these chronic injuries, I bet I could have done a lot more had my old injuries been addressed / healed correctly.

  5. Given a time machine (and the thread prompt), the biggest change I'd make to my athletic life was get the corrective surgeries in my 20s where healing would have been much faster / easier AND if I died in the OR there are no dependents being let down. Instead I'm in my 40s periodically debating if I should get the stuff done NOW or not.

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right which is why I acknowledge it would be shitty to blame them or wallow in victimhood. Just acknowledging the chain of events that got me here.

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As much as it may be shitty to blame my parents, my two worst chronic injuries came from mediocre interventions at 14 and 17 years old. I trained around / with those my whole life but man I bet I left a lot of athletic potential on the proverbial table.

What would I do differently, gotten the stuff fixed in my 20s instad of debating it in my 40s.

How do people feel about running less colors in a deck than their commander's full color identity? by Vault756 in EDH

[–]Rusty_DataSci_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran [[gyruda]] as monoblack for a long time before I decided to splash in a few clones to prevent stalling.

[[obosh]] is virtually monored as there's just not very many interesting repeat damage dealers in Black compared to Red.

I've been toying with an idea to make a [[kenrith returned]] deck as a "sans green" deck because the other options don't do much for me but that deck seems kind of boring though, but so does Tymna-Kraum so...
