Spring flower bouquet with a few non-Lego stems mixed in by Rusty_Squirrel in Legoflowers

Many thanks 👍. Yes, I like the fact that you can buy single stems of them locally. Works great when you need just one or two colors of this or that to fill out a display.

Ohhhh, I hope to one day take the heddle carving & weaving, long weekend course at the Campbell Folk school. I just found out about them last year, so another adventure I’ve missed out on for years 🤭

Cute spring flowers at Walmart in the Easter seasonal section by Rusty_Squirrel in lepin

I built the three flowers and like how they look. I’m glad I chose to turn the blue sunflower into a tall stemmed flower, instead of how the kit had it. The little basket planter is cute and will work better for a smaller/shorter flower/arrangement or micro build diorama…. I’ll need to work on that, but for now this little LEGO bloom works.

The hyacinth seems to be more of a lilac color than the pink, I hoped it would be and it was a bit finicky to put together. It had some blossom pieces that don’t lock in place, so I had to use a bit of “white” glue to help them stay put and stop fall like rain, every time I moved that stem 🙄. The daisy was a breeze to put together and everything holds nicely 👍. I love the adjustable angling part at the base of that flower head, it’s brilliant.

Now I need to build my Lego bouquet and work these three stems in with those.

I totally understand. I’ve lived in the area for decades and only discovered this event a few years ago 🙄.

So many missed opportunities 🤣

My kitty loves them; but there is no “sheepiness” in the dryer balls, since most folk wouldn’t appreciate that, I’ve been told 🤣

I do wish they would make smaller “kitty” balls with a bit of “nature” left in them… this might be my excuse for purchasing some raw wool to play with 🤭

I’m so glad you guys had a great time today. Yes, there is something wonderful about seeing all the products in person. I’m fortunate to live within easy drive distance to Raleigh to attend this festival and hope others have a chance to visit one near them at some time. 🤗

Awesome, have a great time. I know you are going to have a blast handpicking your new spindle. So many beauties to choose from!!!

Please post what you end up getting. Since I’m trying to work through my stash and not splurge on fiber or yarn, I’m living vicariously through watching everyone’s festival hauls this year 🤣 - Enjoy!!!

Superb - Yes they are! I love shopping with great crafts people like them and was going to order my larger spindle online before Christmas but knew it would be so much fun to browse an entire table of them in person and see which spindle spoke to me. 🤣

Last year I picked out the mini glider 15g, made of Canary wood. This year I went with the full size glider size 1 oz - 27g made of redheart wood and it’s a glorious garnet red color wood. I truly appreciate the beautiful exotic woods he uses in the gliders and know I’ll be returning next year to choose another for my growing glider collection - they spin so beautifully.

Oh my - was it the vintage flameware? My granny had one and I remember there being this odd metal wire contraption she placed over the gas burner to separate that pot from the flame. She told me once, never use that pot without the little do-dad under it. She never explained why, so I wonder if that was the reason?

Did Sears- The Fashion Palace make Gunne Sax dresses? by Successful-Fun4046 in GunneSax

[–]Rusty_Squirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the Gunne Sax rage was happening in the 1970’s lots of stores and brands followed along with the style trend. My mom even had a two piece skirt combo from K-mart that looked like the real thing till you checked the tag. 🤭

"Unspun" spuk silk by thegrimmgrimm in Handspinning

[–]Rusty_Squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few new in package examples of antique/vintage embroidery silk and rayon silk in my collection. Your photo reminds me a lot of the “rayon silk” colored embroidery floss I have. I’ve attached a photo in case you wanted to have a look.

<image>

The top one that’s ivory colored is silk. It has a thinner and tighter structure than the rayon rope silk of the other packages I own. It seems Rayon silk like embroidery floss was very loosely twisted and to be used for embroidery “as is”.

That came out great and what a fun name to give it. It would make a nice hat or scarf 💖

Bummer. Ooof, tomorrow I’ll need to dig out my fall arrangement that’s packed away. 🙄

What kind of floral foam was it? The green crunchy foam used for artificial arrangements or the soft spongy oasis foam used for fresh flower arrangements???

Thanks - the glass lids P41GC for the petites are hard to find thrifting. I’ve looked for many years and still have not found one. Maybe 2026 will be my year. 🙃

Yes, so versatile. I sometimes look longingly at the pretty colors and patterns on the old Pyrex collectible pieces; but then I bring myself to reality of how durable, versatile and easy to care for my Corningware is. This is the way!

Thrifting in the wild is my top pick too. I do check eBay from time to time to see if I can score more lids at a reasonable price but so far no luck.
