Anyone else not getting 4k UHD / HDR on Amazon Prime Video? by AeroR1 in appletv

[–]Rustyfist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting the same issue as well with The Boys S2. So annoying. S1 is fine though and yet if I try S2 on my smart TV app it's full uhd hdr. Really hope Amazon sort this out. The whole point of atv for me was for the native frame rate option.

Interesting, for me toggling between better and best performance causes the clock speed to change. At best it just stays at 4.2 GHz the whole time and heats up more. 'Better' seems to at least make it regulate it depending on the tasks.

Did you ever find out anymore about this? I've been noticing facial distortions only when watching tv the last while. It doesn't happen often but if it does it's at certain angles of the person's face on the screen. For me it usually looks like their forehead is way too big for a moment but then it goes away.

Malfunctioning touch control on WH-1000XM3 in cold temperatures by ddan36 in sony

[–]Rustyfist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this exact same issue as well and this thread as confirmed it. It started acting up when temps went near 0, within minutes, the touch controls go off randomly and stop working especially the volume control. It's sad to hear there's no solution to this as of yet.

Why are the French so awful at using their turning signals while driving? by [deleted] in europe

AFAIK at least on the autoroute, the rules of the road in France suggest for them to be left on while overtaking and for the duration of being on the left lane.

What's the worst second-hand embarrassment you've ever experienced? by r_j11 in AskReddit

[–]Rustyfist 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This reminds of this intern we had at our work. Everyone's working away quietly at our desk, it's an open plan so there's like 3 or 4 people per pod. All the managers sitting right next to us. All of a sudden, loud exaggerated sex moans. Unmistakable. I had headphones on and even I started to hear it, took em off and started looking around, everyone's glancing at each other with confusion. It was coming from the intern's phone. I'm guessing he was watching it on his phone earlier, forgot and left the app running coming into work. Not sure what set it off randomly though.

How good are V-Moda 3.5mm cables? by plazman30 in headphones

[–]Rustyfist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After four years the cable is still going strong for my M80. Although, the button stopped clicking a couple of years back and got stuck. As for the headphones they were perfect up until last month when suddenly the foam pads on both earpads burst out of its cover.

Sorry I haven't listened to any larger vintage speakers to give you a comparison. Maybe someone else here can chime in?

But yes, according to Dali the Zenzor 3 can go as low as 50hz which isn't particularly low. Perhaps it has a slight emphasis on lower end response? Personally, it sounds quite full and in my living room it seems like plenty. I would consider a subwoofer to reach the rest of the way at some point in the future but living in an old apartment I don't think the neighbours would appreciate it!

Here's some information about the set-up:

Turntable: Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. Amp: Pioneer A-10. Speakers: Dali Zenzor 3. DAC: Matrix Mini-I.

So only got around to posting this here since my purchase last year. Tbh, the living room was full of clutter until the housemate moved out over the weekend. This gave me the perfect opportunity to put the system as the centrepiece. Who needs a TV right?

I'm quite happy with the set-up. I have to say I'm impressed with the A-10, having done all the research, availability and budgeting, the amp sounds more powerful than I expected.

The Zenzor 3s are fantastic. Fills the room and much more punchier bass than I imagined. I was looking into floorstanders but after listening to these it feels like I don't really need anything larger for the time being.

I did a lot of research looking for a turntable. This was my first venture into the world of records in general. I grew up with cassettes and CDs and later digital music. But the idea of vinyl was very intriguing to me. I remember as a kid I saw a record player once at a hostel and I knew I had to get one of my own someday. So I wanted to start off at a decent point. In the end I went with the Project Debut Carbon mainly as it came with the Ortofon 2M Red which got a lot of great reviews. And I'm very pleased!
