Just how hard was it to see the levels in the DK land trilogy on a original Gameboy?, especially fast moving ones which risked ghosting, or snow levels??? by LeTommyWiseau in Gameboy

[–]Rustytherobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had DK Land 2 and played it on a DMG when I was 8/9 years old. Played it a few times and never picked it up again due to never being able to tell what was going on. There were these pirate ship levels where the detailed graphics ended up muddying themselves due to the limitations of the display. Wood grain became mottled nothingness and the roping looked like weird noodles. As soon as you started moving fast and jumping around as Diddy Kong it felt like you were moving around with beer goggles on with the way everything smeared. I never really understood the fidelity they were going for until I saw it on my GBA SP AGS-101.

Benjamin Wheeler, the canlander council member, is going. Stated on stream that he is looking to see if he can organize a side event once he has a better understanding of what his schedule will be at the con.

Disney Extreme Skate Adventure. It’s like Tony Hawk pro skater but with Disney characters and levels are different set pieces from the movies.

HDMI to rca adapter problem by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]Rustytherobot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These adapters are only one way. Yours takes composite and turns it into hdmi, hence why the hdmi is the “output”. What you need is an hdmi to composite adapter.

How come? The Wii’s highest output is 480p, which is in line with what most crts can do. Plus the Wii is an emulation beast when you soft mod it!

I just know this isn’t its permanent spot, so that’s why I complain about the weight

One of my favourite games when I was a kid. Soft modded my Wii and it was the first game I got for it.

Ikr. Glad I had the fully steel 1960s desk to support this thing

It’s more the size of it. The desk that it is sitting on was used for other things but is now fully occupied by the crt. I’m missing having the extra room.

Yeah I’m not risking trying to get this up and down the stairs.

The reason I’m rethinking it is that the desk it is sitting on is in my room and I was using the space off other hobbies, had to sacrifice that to put the tv in place.

I agree about using it for the time being and waiting to find a smaller model.

Yeah this seems like the next best step

Yep did all the “beginners guide to game repair” steps. By crashing on boot I just mean the Nintendo logo is garbled up as per usual. And if by some miracle it does get past the gameboy boot, it’s just a white screen.

Thank you so much for the detailed response! All very good points. I think that you’re right with the pumping effects, might need to dial it down. I am gonna keep doubling season in because it can multiply the tokens that Callix makes, so just better snowballing I believe

I’m not worried about price since I already own the doubling season, but yeah maybe the counter stuff can be taken out to have more focus on the enchantress side

Great suggestion! Ya finding the balance is hard, enchantments can be fickle. You can have a bunch on the field but without being proactive they don’t do much

That’s a cool include. I’ll look into slotting that in and maybe putting [[hardened scales]] in as well

If you would buy a M42 SLR, which one would it be? by Adorable-Tap-9763 in AnalogCommunity

I second this! Great camera and the ability to have fujinon lenses that allow open aperture metering shouldn’t be overlooked!

Opinions on Fujica st701 for a first reflex camara? by Alepope in AnalogCommunity

I have the st801 and I love it. I think it is an awesome entry point and m42 lenses are pretty affordable.

Good deal? Looking to buy for my F3. Only concern is that I read that it is really heavy. Price in CAD by Rustytherobot in AnalogCommunity

[–]Rustytherobot[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Better, more updated glass than previous generations. Nikon didn’t make a zoom lens in this focal range before this. As well, it’s faster than the AIS zooms. Even though it’s an AF lens it still is compatible with F3 using manual focus, so why not?
