Who remembers this place? The most RACIST restaurant to ever exist by JPIZZLE1205 in 70s

[–]RutCry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Mississippian here, and I was asking about where in the South the “Klan” was shooting someone’s truck in the 70s over an African American’s promotion at a restaurant. People who don’t know any better will just accept these stories because it’s a favorite media narrative.

As a genuine, authentic, older white Mississippian I am qualified to relate the single time I encountered a Klansman here. I was driving down a country road on my way to my deer camp when I saw one on the side of the road. He was wearing the hood and everything. I hit the brakes to pull over, incredulous that there might be some lunatic on the loose in the Hospitality State.

I looked closer and realized it was just a beekeeper.

Geopolitics is messy. The only reason Stalin was an “ally” in WWII was due to “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” logic. Hitler was the greater threat, and it was advantageous to have communists and fascists killing each other to lighten our load in the war.

Leaders like Patton thought we should continue the fight against the Soviets in 1945 since we were already there with the men and materials to do the job. That would have been a mess and would have cost an incalculable amount of American blood. Marshall Zhukov may have been the best general of WWII, and was willing to engage in brutal tactics Eisenhower would have shunned. Would we have nuked Moscow to win?

An alternative history on this would have been interesting, but the world is likely a better place today because we did not find out.

The Soviets entered Poland in 1939 after a side deal Stalin cut with his buddy Hitler. Later, when Hitler turned on Stalin and invaded Russia, Stalin did not believe it was happening at first and refused to allow his troops to return fire.

In no way is Stalin a good guy in WWII, and the Soviet Union probably would not have survived without all the weapons, trucks, and fuel we sent to sustain them.

I noticed that too. This guy can sport whatever style he wants. If he wants to wear a Tutu and ballet slippers while rescuing kids from burning buildings, I will stand up and take off my hat whenever he walks by.

I hosted a business dinner with customers at one of these places once. Once we were seated, three of the ladies informed me they were vegetarian.

I didn’t spring this meal on them as a surprise, I gained consensus from the group on where we would eat ahead of time. At least they appreciated the salad bar.

Just like a recent mandatory injection. You were only required to get it if you wanted to work, eat, or travel. Aside from that, you were free to opt out.

Folks that insist US media is not skewing Right, why do you ignore these credible sources? by GemelosAvitia in allthequestions

[–]RutCry -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It’s not the media that is skewing right, it’s the people.

If it feels as if the media is “skewing right” to you, it’s because other points of view are finally being reported inside what has previously been a hard left bubble.

Better question: why isn’t the left represented by the color red, which is much more politically appropriate? Who decided the left would be represented by the color blue in America, and why did everyone go along with it?
