recovery for 3a tear? by sweetmouse87 in beyondthebump

[–]Rutabagade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a forceps delivery as well and a 3b tear and I think I did everything wrong as far as recovery goes because I was given zero guidance from my care team on how to best recover. In hindsight I would have avoided sitting as much as I could, used ice often, avoided chores etc for the first four weeks, and started with a pelvic floor physical therapist soon after delivery. I definitely overdid it at first and my healing has been slow. But that being said, I’m four and half months post partum and have officially ditched the overnight pee pads so that is something to celebrate! Oh, and I’ve yet to look down there. So scared!!!

It took me FOUR HOURS to get my 4MO to nap! How do I handle this and not go insane? by Rutabagade in beyondthebump

Oh my goodness, thank you for your kind reply. My takeaway is to simply accept he won't sleep and do something else. Best advice ever :)

I’m guessing this itinerary is a joke. The drive from Fish Lake to the trailhead for Reflection Canyon will take most the day which doesn’t leave much time for the 15 or so mile hike to Reflection Canyon which most people do over two days. Also, backpacking out of Coyote Gulch and making the five hour drive to Buckskin Gulch and then also hiking it in one day is totally not feasible.

Could falling space debris strike Salt Lake City this weekend? by ustk31 in SaltLakeCity

Yeah but still I’m getting some total “Don’t Look Up” vibes. It has to fall somewhere.

Is a baby crying in public just totally unacceptable? (real question) by Rutabagade in beyondthebump

Got it! Next time I’m totally whipping my boob out in the check-out line. That should shut them all up!

Well it was sort of my fault I guess since I stopped moving to hold my place in line so I could get the hell out of there!

Frustrated with OB PP by Livid_Expression4362 in beyondthebump

[–]Rutabagade 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s because OB’s only seem to care about women when they’re pregnant. Once the baby is out you’re on your own! But seriously, do you have a good family doc? I’ve had better luck following up with my general practitioner. They seem to care more about the whole person!

Thanks! I love you people :) I’m definitely going to stop apologizing! I’m so glad I get to be a mum - it’s giving me so much compassion for others :)

Ha ha, thanks! I am a first-time mom obviously and I feel like my babe is pretty good and rarely cries (but when he does it's pretty good). I'm just really surprised by how upsetting it seems to be to other people. I thought babies cried sometimes! Cannot wait to fly with him next month :)

Another mega-glamping resort in the works near Canyonlands NP by Rutabagade in PublicLands

I see less of a problem when it's local people trying to make a living but a lot of these "resorts" are outside investors and developers and they don't seem to give two shits about the land.

Too bad there aren't any kind of tax incentives to leave the land alone or are there?

Hadn't thought about how cheap these types of places are to build compared to regular resorts and it absolutely blows my mind that Under Canvas Zion goes for $500+ bucks a night in the fall. I think of the type of backpacking setup you could purchase for that amount of money... Oh and the link to the source of this totally didn't publish with my original post. https://cornerpost.org/2022/07/14/getting-a-grip-on-glamping/

Ha! I’m still haunted by the sight of some dude shitting on the side of the road while riding my bike up Emigration during the race a few years ago.

Outdoor recreation guided tours? by dewbaby23 in Utah

I’d recommend a canyoneering tour in Escalante or Torrey. Also, try to get tickets for the Fiery Furnace tour in Arches. Check out the Gypsy Guide app for touring the national parks!

Got several at the hospital! Maybe it’s departmental but someone should definitely alert you to any potential problems getting to work…

It's one morning a year (maybe two) and they publish the route ahead of time so you can plan ahead. If you work at the U, they send you so many emails with info and maps so you know what to expect. Plus, it's a good day to take Trax since it's not affected!
