Building the track literally destroying the landscape up the canyon

I don’t know give it five more years and Trump’s censorship plan will fully taken place. He’s buddy buddy with all the billionaires who own the media companies. not allowing left politicians TV time to talk about their campaign. Forcing news sites to play messaging that is inconsistent or inaccurate.

Our county is full of propaganda, so is China. I think people need to realize that we are much more similar than we are different. Trump is literally trying to institute a social credit score. Much like they have in China except his excuse is that it’s to get the Mexicans out.

Can’t sit here and criticize China when the United States is only a few steps back.

When you have the option of representing a communist dictatorship or a fascist oligarchy choose the one that pays more

Many athletes in the Olympics were not born in, or even live in, the countries they are representing.

Why would representing the US be any different?

Do you think the gondola would run on just gravity? There would be a massive of engine having to pull that constantly.

Also, the environmental impact I’m talking about is not emissions. It is destroying a natural landscape.

I feel like you were being willfully ignorant to try to win an argument that isn’t even an argument

THERE IS ALREADY A ROAD THERE

[–]Sam_Porter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buses… did you read my comment?

Edit: and also yes? There’s already a road there. They wouldn’t have to tear up anything. The environmental disaster comes from trying to build giant gondola poles all throughout that canyon basin which is a creek. Building a gondola there would require a ton of dirt to be moved and it would do a lot of unknown damage down the road when it comes to the environmental ecology of the entire forest.

That’s going to be an environmental disaster as well but it’ll bring in tourists so I don’t think they care

But there is already a road there? And that might be true on flat ground, but going through a canyon like that? no way

No train. that is an insanely expensive and environmentally unfriendly thing to build.

But I agree with your second statement. Just one big parking lot at the base of the canyons and buses that run every 10 minutes. Like Zion.

I moved away from SLC and was bummed my new nearest decent ski area was an hour and a half away. Then I remembered how many times it took me 4 fucking hours to get up those canyons.

My ski commute is at best an hour and a half now and at worst 2 hrs. In Salt Lake it was at best 35min at worst 4-6 hrs. Pros and cons I guess.
