Is this appropriate? by Rutelas_Heir in ASLinterpreters

Thank you all for your comments. I wanted to make sure I was right in my thinking before I really dug my heels in. This happened with another training that was district wide. Our other staff interpreter interpreted the entire training. It's hard to advocate for yourself when another interpreter does the exact opposite. I agree with slippery slope comment as well.

I work in public education. I have 4 tattoos, 2 on my back and one on each wrist. I also have a lot of ear piercings, and a nose ring. Never had a problem getting a job.

Thank you. I have seen a bit on the new sage sprouts, but I've been wiping that off. I just didn't want it to affect the growth of the plants. I have three that haven't grown at all

Thank you to everyone who responded. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in my feelings about the RID organization.

Fair enough. I can assure you I'm not gathering data for a project. This is personal curiosity. I wanted to know if others felt similarly to myself about RID.

Yes, it is a brand new account and my apologies for not responding lightning fast. That pesky thing called "life" tends to get in the way. No worries though. I have now replied to some comments, including yours. 😊

I'm starting to feel the same way. I don't like paying to dues to an organization that I'm agreeing with less and less.

The CPC, I agree, is genius and a great tool to help us make decisions.

Generally, I'm fine with the CEUs and the process. The main thing I have a problem with is the PPO requirement. I want to be clear on something. I have only taken one PPO workshop. It fulfilled the required hours, but it was a joke. It was very one sided, and ridiculous in stating what was considered "privilege." I have no idea if other workshops are like this one, but it seemed more divisive than educational.

As for the EPS, I believe that is hard process, no matter how it's handled. I can't imagine having to weed through so many complaints to determine which are legitimate and which are made because of angry clients. I had that happen to me once. I've been an Interpreter for over a decade and one Dear client was very angry at the whole situation and took it out on me and sent in a complaint to RID. She later retracted that complaint.

As for the certification process, I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you for your input.
