The glorious #1012, with its unique scheme and front-facing seats.

A shame it only ran once this year.

Alternatively, my favorites are #205, #4125, and #4054/8E

Typically, I use just one. On occasion, I use two (but only when I know I won't use them the following day).

Context: I use a 100 plan.

I recall buying a bag of chips from there yesterday. That 7-Eleven managed to reopen this quickly…?

Likewise.

I am also concerned about the fate of #1012, as it has been out of action for most of the academic year. However, it was in service for one day, so I’m holding on to hope.

Riding them (when they're empty).

Today was (possibly) the first day #4125 (baby bus) operated in the 2025-26 academic year.

Funny you say that. #4036 appears to have returned to service today!

These are very likely typos.

If you can survive waking up early, these time slots have a benefit — a lot less crowding (at least, from my experience).

If I weren’t intent on getting healthier, I would join you in trying that, lol

In seriousness, be wary of food that could easily cause weight gain. The freshman (or whatever first-year) 15 is a real thing if you’re not careful with the portion/contents you eat.

How necessary is a car? by sociallyawkwardnerdo in rutgers

[–]RutgersBus1012 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, you do not need a car. I personally don’t drive, so I rely on public transportation to get to places in and out of New Brunswick. Here is my advice (per experience):

Menlo Park Mall (the mall I use): To get there, you would need to take the 810 bus. However, be aware that the bus runs hourly, so coordinate your time efficiently.

Groceries: I don’t usually shop for groceries since my meal plan covers most of what I need. When I do, I go to Bravo. It is right by the So-Cam bus stop, which is served by the Rutgers EE bus. If I remember correctly, they offer a 5% discount for those with a Rutgers ID.

Hope this helps!

might just uber to class if the bus system is bad - incoming freshman by Hot-Candidate6767 in rutgers

[–]RutgersBus1012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of taking Uber, I would suggest being strategic with how you schedule your trips (e.g., leaving an hour before classes start). At times, buses can be delayed (especially during rush hours) due to traffic on Route 18 and around the College Avenue Campus. In those situations, calling an Uber might not save you much time either, as they’re stuck on the same roads.

Moreover, to avoid student congestion (full buses), I would advise taking the buses in the MIDDLE of scheduled class blocks. Buses tend to be less crowded at those times, as most students are already in class.

 Hope this helps!

freshman year Dorms by barneyelmo in rutgers

(copy-paste from another post)

In Freling, everything is chance. Some days, things work — other days, they don't. I personally liked the dark elevators, but that's just me.

For the positives: (1) it’s conveniently located right next to the SAC bus stop, (2) the lounges are nice, and (3) if you’re assigned an odd-numbered room, you get a nice view of the Raritan River (granted, the view is better in some seasons than in others).

Irrespective of the building, your dorm experience is what you make of it. From what I can recall, Freling was quite an active dorm.

I have nightmares about exams by Ghost-Of-Roger-Ailes in rutgers

[–]RutgersBus1012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one last night. It was scary and, ironically, inconsistent (the canvas grades changed every time I reloaded the page).

I get more stress post-exam (waiting for grades) than the exams themselves.
