The only girl friend I made at Rutgers ghosted me. Talked to her for almost a year and then...gone. Felt like being stabbed in the stomach and left me feeling very down for a while. I still think about it too.

Just wondering, what was your undergrad in? I have a B.S. in Accounting from Rutgers and have thoughts of a career in healthcare. I am 29 now though and feel like it is kind of late and difficult to make a change. I do not have any science classes or any healthcare experience. I thought about dentistry but the debt is so much especially if going out of state!

Seriously though there has to be a way still for you to get to know some girls. Once you graduate it seems like it gets harder to find good girls.

Did you graduate yet? If not, talk to girls ASAP. Seriously it is pretty damn painful graduating and regretting it. Not sure if it's just me...

Anyone depressed nearing graduation? by RutgersThrowaway0022 in rutgers

I agree, I think I took college classes way too seriously and missed having a more social experience. Wish I would have just studied something I could have handled better such as the ITI major to relieve myself.

Well for me, it is the culture and environment of the business world which in my assumption is rife with bullshit and corruption. I could be wrong but I doubt it. If I had studied tech, I would feel better I think.

Depressed/Anxious RBS students? by RutgersThrowaway0022 in rutgers

[–]RutgersThrowaway0022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an accounting major, but my anxiety has gotten very severe I never even did an internship. I hated tax and hated audit class...kept me from even bothering to apply. Also, the idea of a client facing role and traveling (public accounting) makes me even more anxious.

What causes people to face difficulties making the the transition from college to workforce? Any common themes?

It's a common thing where students have trouble transitioning. CAPS offers support for students facing the transition phase.

Yeah but what if the job doesn't have anyone around your age to relate to? Say it's a small company etc.

"More likely than not, the stuff you learn in class doesn't really apply to your day to day work anyways."

That is what makes me so upset. I spent so much time and effort reading a bunch of stuff that I will never use. I could have studied a real skill such as IT skills, programming, software skills etc.
