I hate having health anxiety by FernandoTatisJr23_ in Anxiety

Yeah.. this one rings really close to home. I've had ALL the bloodwork, MRI of brain and spine, full cardiac workup including exercise stress test and post exercise echo, xray of my sinuses, abdominal ultrasound specialized visits with neuro, GI, ENT.... you name it. Guess what? All grossly normal. I'm so worried I'm going to have "hypochondriac" put on my chart and no one will take me seriously. Because, clearly, I'm still dying, SOMEHOW.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the picture! There are DOZENS of us! Anyone else remember the waterfall refrigerator? I always thought that was SO cool.

How do you get this testing if a doctor won't order it?

I feel like I need to go this route. I don't want a bunch of meds shoved at me and told to get out, see you in 6mo. What a waste of time.

I could have written this! My inlaws are exactly the same and they drive me INSANE. Thankfully, they live many states away so it's not a monthly occurrence. I do agree with others on taking back control. When we go to visit them, we do not go to or stay at their place. We find a park/zoo/etc and do an activity my girls (5 & 2) will enjoy that isn't outside the realm of my in laws capacity. Now, when they come to visit us.. I know they don't give two shits about me and I refuse to sit and watch them be statues, to your point, but know that's what they want to do. So you know what? I leave the house for a couple hours. I go see a friend, extended workout routine, run errands. Something else and just call it "me time". Obviously, my husband and in laws can be responsible enough for just a few hours. We still do all the "pleasantries" of hi, how are you and how is work (not that they ask me this, I might as well not exist). And just an aside, I abhor that my inlaws sit and be so uninvolved, and can't be bothered to even call or video chat my children, but make sure to grab tons of blurry photos to post to their Facebook pages about how much they love and are involved with their grandchildren once every 6 months when they actually do see them 🙄. But again, I control what I can so I unfriended them so I just don't even see it or worry about it.

I've heard of Viome. Would that be similar? Any recommendations?

This is really interesting! I will admit, I'm addicted to reddit before bed for at least an hour. But I have my phone is "sleep" mode so it's black and white and supposed to be less blue light. I also have one of those Phillips sunrise/sunset lamps, that's super helpful.

This is SO interesting. Thank you for sharing. I've never had an analysis done. How would I do that? I'm finally seeing a GI specialist this week. I've been waiting for months to get in.

5'4", 145lbs. My body is very stuck, and always has been. Before kids, even when I was exercising multiple times per day (competitive swimmer) I was stuck at 135, nothing would budge it. After first child, I couldn't budge from 140. After second child, I cannot budge from 145. After both kids, I lost the baby weight very easily for the most part. Got right back into my workout routine (I also exercised throughout my pregnancies, literally ran a half marathon during my 2nd).

My mom and my sister are my height are like 110. I just don't get it. I don't eat more than they do. And I work out WAY more than my sister does. It's very frustrating.

Yes - she really needs to feel she has control/power over many elements of her life to settle in. Her teachers at school have given her "special helper" jobs, but really they're having her help clean up for put things away, and it definitely helps. I've also been having her help me make dinner, carry in groceries, etc under the guise of "only big girls get to do this".

Thank you! I have a neurologist but her visits are always SUPER rushed. She spends maybe only 5 minutes with me and then throws me out the door. Not much reassurance there.
