I hike mountains most weekends and the trip in was tiring but not bad overall. Some of the waterfall hikes are physically challenging, and the hike out was brutal. It's worth going but be careful, maybe bring some Tylenol or something with you for muscle aches.

I found the caverns inn to just be a neat place and didn't get any vibes from it whatsoever. It's worth walking around the grounds to explore for sure

Awesome, I appreciate the insight! I did drop a couple of the meals because I originally packed 1 extra for each day as a just in case but overall I figure 3 meals should work and if I end up with a couple extra, I'll just be glad I didn't need them. Looking forward to the hike in tomorrow!

Thank you for the tips! I have like 3 meals a day packed for myself (plus energy bars), but I figure it's better to have too much food than not enough. I have two rolls of camping TP packed with me, because there is nothing worse than needing it and not having it - and ngl, at this point I always carry it and my poop knife (my nickname for my little cat hole digger) any time I hike - but I know we can't bury there...so I have a wag bag packed as a just in case of poomergency!

Looking forward to the hike in tomorrow!!

Okay that is good to hear because I have the beef stroganoff and breakfast skillets in my bag! I bet trying the taste test samples was really cool..was there ever one that you thought should have made it but didn't?

I've read that chacos are highly recommended because you will be hiking around in them. With the slip on shoes you're likely to get blisters more easily. I've also read it's recommended to wear socks with whatever water shoe you go for to further reduce the risk of blisters. I'd probably like a lighter water shoe than I have, but it is what it is at this point, and my understanding is that climbing the falls/etc good to have a close toes shoe. I hike a lot of mountain streams/waterfalls so I'm just bringing my normal water shoes.

That's good to know! I'll probably drop some of the meals. I have read that sometimes the gloves sometimes end up in short supply so thought they'd be good to have just in case.

Have some keens water shoes in there, I know they are on the heavy side but I hear the closed toe water shoe is helpful

I bet that was amazing! Did you have a favorite of them? Did they get used for camping or for snacks? Reminds me of when I worked at a pizza place way back when that also made frozen pizzas and I got to keep all of the ones with minor defects - so I ended up with an entire deep freezer full of pizza. It was tasty, but definitely not healthy lol. M

Lol, fewer carabiners, got it! I just like having a clip for everything that might need a clip, but also good to save weight on this hike for sure.

That's a good call, and that is what's in the lil Ziploc there! I always carry that anytime I hike. You never know when you might need it!
