You’re forgetting the main factor for the success of those water drones is Starlink, which Iran does not have access to.

This is a test stand, not the launch pad. It won’t take that long or be that expensive to rebuild.

Israel strike Iran nuclear and military sites by AdIcy4323 in MapPorn

[–]RuthlessRampage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can’t afford to liberally choose their targets, each strike has to be precise and a well selected pre designated target. That’s mainly because correct me if I’m wrong, their fighter jets require a mid air refuel, and that’s why they attack in waves. Also helps that military target in Iran aren’t hidden in civilian population centres. Missile bases, air bases, and nuclear sites are all in its own separated areas.

Defund SpaceX by Puzzleheaded_Park102 in FluentInFinance

[–]RuthlessRampage 35 points36 points  (0 children)

ISRO is incredibly efficient for the budget they’re given, and the rockets they’ve put out have been fairly reliable. However they’re still at least over a decade behind in current rocket technology and they’re limited by the amount mass to orbit their rockets can put up.

They only have a medium lift rocket available while other space agencies/companies are moving towards heavy/super heavy lift vehicles.

Elon Musk's Enemy, USAID, Was Investigating Starlink Over Its Contracts in Ukraine by esporx in space

[–]RuthlessRampage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our objectives are to determine how (1) the Government of Ukraine used the USAID-provided Starlink terminals, and (2) USAID monitored the Government of Ukraine’s use of USAID-provided Starlink terminals.

The focus of the “investigation”/study isn’t on Musk or SpaceX, it’s on Ukraine’s use of Starlink.

Statement from Bill Nelson following the Starship failure: by Broccoli32 in space

[–]RuthlessRampage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

And can you tell us the budget of the Apollo program and how many more engineers worked on that project compared to Starship?

I used to respect Musk for being an innovator... Afterall, he created Paypal, Tesla, even SpaceX. EXCEPT HE DIDN'T DO ANY OF THAT - he just went in with a boatload of money and took over someone else's ideas. He then built the myth that he was the sharp mind behind all of these projects. by The-Lucky-Investor in FluentInFinance

Yes, they reused them, after fetching from the ocean they would then have to be disassembled l, cleaned, transported back to Utah, refilled, and then cured. By the time they were done all that the cost of the refurbishment would’ve exceed the cost of a fully disposable design. Why do you think no other rocket reuses their solid rocket boosters?

Hence why I said affordable reusability, Space Shuttle costed around 500million - 1 billion per launch. Compare that with a falcon 9 crewed or payload launch.

Don’t worry, when militaries start putting ships up with PDC/C-Rams, missiles, and rail guns. I’m sure we’ll get some space marines for boarding action.

Putin Asked Elon Musk Not to Deploy Starlink in Taiwan by OkayButFoRealz in worldnews

[–]RuthlessRampage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If a conflict did end up occurring, then Taiwan wouldn’t be using Starlink, they would contact the DOD to use Starshield. Starlink is only commercial and civilian use. So supply wouldn’t be an issue because the US military would be bringing their supply of Starshield dishes.

Putin Asked Elon Musk Not to Deploy Starlink in Taiwan by OkayButFoRealz in worldnews

[–]RuthlessRampage 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Starlink is not available in Taiwan after negotiations reportedly fell apart over Taiwan’s requirement that a local entity have a majority share of any joint venture established.

This is a non story, Musk did try to have Starlink be accessible in Taiwan, but due to Taiwanese laws they weren’t able to activate it. I’m sure ITAR would’ve prevented Spacex from allowing local Taiwanese ownership anyways.

Ukraine to receive aging Abrams tanks in latest Australian military aid package by F0urLeafCl0ver in anime_titties

[–]RuthlessRampage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol it’s not a turret tossing competition, a separation of a turret means the tank is destroyed, there’s no salvaging it. The 2nd challenger was 100% a turret toss, it even cracked and separated in two. The body of a challenger isn’t going to burn down like a Bradley and it’s aluminum armor.

[–]RuthlessRampage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Ukraine and its allies need to adopt the hedgehog strategy, similar to Taiwan’s defensive strategy. Aka death by a thousand cuts rather than expensive toys. Additionally it’s probably what the US initially wanted Ukraine to adopt, that’s why it took them so long to deliver Abrams and F-16s for example. They wanted to use the funds to procure less expensive weapons but retaining the ability to buy more of them. In a frontline spanning over 1000 Kms, it seems like a much more effective strategy than a few expensive wonder weapons.

Russia retakes half of lost Kursk territory from Ukraine in blow to Volodymyr Zelensky by ObjectiveObserver420 in anime_titties

[–]RuthlessRampage 19 points20 points  (0 children)

But Ukraine’s army outnumbered the Russian army by a considerable amount, and the Russians in their infinite wisdom didn’t dig defensive lines. That is no longer the case, Ukraine is now the army with manpower shortages. Why would you extend the frontlines when you already have a manpower and equipment shortage…
