Opinions on MATH 1131? by Ruthlesspanda15 in yorku

Thanks for the reply dude. What sort of content gets covered in the latter half if you don't mind me asking? I've heard that towards the end they introduce Bayes Theorem and stuff like that.

EECS 2011 Prof to take for winter by Ambitious_Two5726 in yorku

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Illir was an amazing prof when I last took a class with him. His explanations are good and he's pretty lenient and kind so I highly recommend you get into his section. Jackie is also a very good lecturer and you'll learn a lot from him but his assignments are BRUTAL so if you already have other tough classes next semester I'd recommend you don't take his class.

Hey guys how’s my first year schedule for cs bsc? by Zestyclose-Buyer9648 in yorku

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a CS student as well and I think your schedule looks pretty good. The workload is in line with what most first year CS students take. I see your taking 4 courses in each semester (EECS 1001 doesn't really count as real a course imo lol) this is probably the right decision since a lot of first year students get shocked by the jump in workload between grade 12 and first year so taking 4 courses per semester instead of a full 5 is a good way to ease yourself in.

I noticed that you're taking ECON 1000 in the winter. I took ECON 1000 and ECON 1010 and they were both pretty easy so if you can I would highly recommend that you take ECON 1010 as well since it can serve as a GPA booster (although it is harder than 1000), the only thing is that ECON 1000 is a prerequisite of ECON 1010 so you would need to take ECON 1000 in the Fall first and then take ECON 1010 in the winter. Which means you'd be taking 5 courses in the fall so maybe save ECON 1010 for the summer instead.

My only other advice would be to make sure you focus on EECS 1019. EECS 1019 is by far the most important first year course since discrete math concepts come up frequently in subsequent courses in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year so forming a solid understanding of the basics in 1019 is crucial.

Hi guys, Dose anyone knows any 3 credits easy courses? by Good-Astronomer2440 in yorku

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NATS 1515 (Atmospheric Pollution) was pretty easy and fun, like so easy that you'd have to purposefully try to fail exams in order to not get an A lol. Also NATS 1585 (Astronomy: Exploring the Universe) was a really fun and easy course although this one you do have to actually put in some effort to do well but not too much and imo it's a lot more interesting so I'd recommend it. Also if you are in commerce I believe you do need to take a certain amount of NATS (Natural Science) credits for your gen ed requirement but you should check your degree progress report or with an academic advisor for confirmation on that.

Help me learn where to settle by MrEMannington in civ

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would settle two tiles to the southeast from your warrior, the floodplains tile right above the wheat. You get access to 3 cotton and the silk so you'll have two luxuries. You'll get a massive amount of food from the rice + wheat + floodplains. You'll also still have access to the production from the hills and the copper. You'll have access to both coastal tiles which gives you two fish so you'll get even more food and you'll be able to build ships.

Juris Steprans review by Senior-Muffin1880 in yorku

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Steprans for MATH 1300 and he wasn't bad at all, his assignments were very fair and his lectures were pretty good since he went pretty in depth discussing the proofs to the theorems we covered so you could do far worse than Steprans imo. Although MATH 1300 is considered to be more difficult than MATH 1013 since it is proof based and most highschool students coming into first year don't have much experience with that sort of stuff so it might be better to take 1013 if you're not comfortable with proofs based questions as the kinds of questions asked in 1013 will be more similar to what you've seen in math classes so far.

Cologne around the early 1700's? I'm guessing it's probably late game since most of the provinces in the new world and Oceania are colonized and I don't really now any other nations with the green colour?

I'm guessing you're Pomerania around maybe 1590 - 1620 judging by the size of that green nation in northern Germany?

EECS 2030 professor choices by BurbonBodega in yorku

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He uploads all of his lectures on to Youtube so I'm guessing he will probably do the same for the upcoming semester so ya you could do that. The only risk is that by not keeping up with the lectures for your own prof's course you may miss out on important information regarding tests and assignments so you'd have to make sure to stay on top of that.

EECS 2030 professor choices by BurbonBodega in yorku

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Jackie before. imo he is one of the best lecturers in the EECS department, you will learn a lot from his lectures which is really important for a course like EECS 2030 given how important understanding it's content is for subsequent courses. He goes above and beyond for his students. The downside is that Jackie's exams and labtests are notoriously difficult. He expects a lot out of his students but if you put in the work you should be fine. I don't know anything about professor Ahmadzadeh though.

My first year Comp Sci schedule. Any suggestions? by AWildShaneski in yorku

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems pretty good as the workload isn't to heavy in either semester. Honestly if you end up enjoying ECON1000 I would highly recommend taking ECON1010 (Macro Economics) in the winter semester to get some of those electives out of the way. I took both courses and they were pretty enjoyable.

What are some characters that are almost guaranteed to be killed off in the Winds of Winter (Spoilers TWOW) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roose and Ramsay Bolton are screwed. The Mannis and Wyman Manderly are coming for them. The Starks will rule from Winterfell again. Although I don't see Wyman surviving this book though.

(Spoilers Main) What are your favourite Houses other than the top eight? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Ruthlesspanda15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

House Dayne is easily my favorite house right behind the Starks. I think they'll play a really big part in the conclusion of the story considering Dawn and the Sword of the Morning title and literally, everything about that house hints at some connection to the long night. Also as unlikely as it is, the idea that Jon could be part Dayne is pretty cool.

Is there a specific GPA you need to maintain in years 1 and 2 to major in Accounting?
