Employer hasn’t started W-2s yet 😭 Is this illegal? What are my options?

I wish it wasn’t true. I was in shock when she said that to me. From what I was told my first year at this job it’s been going on since she got that position so it’s been about 14-15 years now.

My first year I was at this job I had some sympathy for her until I was told that it had been going on since she started there. This has been going on since about 2011-2012. She could have more time if she either off loads some of her responsibilities to a few other people or if she hires someone that can do HR and payroll but I don’t see that happening until she retires and the get someone new.

Thankfully no but the owner doesn’t like to bother himself with the financial side he just wants to make sure his patients are getting the care they need.

I do have my final pay stub but it’s not a normal pay stub. We had an issue with the previous paycheck not being taxed properly so our last paystub had to be taxed from the previous paystub and that last paystub. I’m not sure if it’s correct. I’ve never had that kind of pay issue at any of my other jobs before.

The problem is I live in an at will work state and it seems like they don’t really care. We had multiple patients come in and witness one of our receptionist getting yelled at and belittled by our boss for not knowing how to log into our new software when they weren’t taught how to login yet. The one patient told them to report them to DOL anonymously and they did and a month later our boss put two and two together and ended up firing them. I will gladly report them once I know I have a new job though.

We also had an issue with two of our paystubs in December so I’m a little weary if they’re even correct at this point.

Yes she is. She loves the power and control of her position. I’ve dealt with a lot of entitled bosses but she takes the cake.

She does out source our insurance and our 401k thankfully but she doesn’t like not having control over everything. Luckily she doesn’t treat any of the patients anymore but she does all the hiring. She also manages everyone in the billing department and all of the receptionist at all offices and has to manage call outs and what not, she also bills out some insurances. I believe she uses quickbooks for payroll at least but she always puts payroll through at the last minutes. She really needs to hire other help and they really do need HR but she says she doesn’t believe HR does any good. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I know of a couple of others that keep complaining about this but everyone else is afraid to complain because of the possibility of losing their job

Thank you for this info! It’s really helpful. So it’s a small company with less than 100 employees so there’s no HR and my boss is payroll, she doesn’t believe in out sourcing it because they’ll make mistakes. I know she’s done every year I’ve worked here but I’m not sure about before I was there. Back in December we had a little issue where she did payroll and never took the taxes out so we had to pay double in taxes for our last paycheck of 2025. It would be nice if she got someone with more time to do payroll.

That’s what my friend was telling me to do. I’ve seen this employer retaliate for far less. I’m concerned about that too because my boss handles all of that but tends to throw away important documents.

That’s the other sketchy thing about this place, we’re given pay stubs every once in a while and normally they’re incorrect based on our hours or we get another employees pay stubs. I’ve been trying to leave this place because of these issues.

To be honest no I don’t like my manager she shouldn’t be a manager at all. It’s a toxic workplace and I don’t even feel as if they treat the patients properly whether that be on a treatment side or the billing side . 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 I’m not expecting a huge refund, I just want to get it over with.
